CYE vs AD

Ok, so I've finally got some spare time today that I'm going to start watching these. I've only got the first series of each at present, so I'd like some thoughts please guys.

I remember watching the first few episodes of AD when it was originally on a couple of years ago, but then losing track. I really quite liked it, so I think I'll enjoy that one.

Not sure about CYE yet, but I've not really heard anything negative about it.

So, some questions! Which is the best of the two? If I'm not too hot on one of them, is it worth sticking through to the next series as it improves?

Any other thoughts, comments, recommendations...?

I think Curb is much better.
Arrested Development is a teeny bit too 'clever' and smug. Although brilliant.

But I'm afraid you're just going to have to watch both.

AD. I never really saw the appeal of Curb.

I think the narration bit annoys me. Keeps reminding me I'm watching a TV show. Just let me watch it!
It is great though apart from that, I agree.

I think AD starts off a bit slow, I wasn't even sure it was a comedy when I first saw it, but stick with it, the jokes come thick and fast and they're smart, clever and rewarding.

CYE is all about Larry David, stick with it and get to know him, who'll soon love this little "four-eyed f**k" and his ways. It can be a little predictable, but the pay offs a still satisfying.

I'd say start with AD, as Curb is still being made, if you can understand what I mean by that?

I'd start with AD, I think I do prefer it because it's very clever and jam-packed with gags and brilliant characters.

But Curb is great too, the way it's written is also clever but can become quite repetitive at times. But saying that I really love Curb and would recommend it to any comedy fan.

Well, purely for logistical reasons, I started off with CYE. So far only got through the first four episodes, but really quite enjoying it. Some stuff there that has definitely happened to me (to some extent) in my relatively short life. Only a few laugh out loud moments so far, but very good all the same.

I shall start going through AD tomorrow. :)

Woohoo!

Has to be Arrested Development for me.

As much as I enjoy Curb Your Enthusiasm for its forever relatable, often intertwining and cringe-worthy social plot lines, Arrested Development is one of the most finely crafted sitcoms ever made. You won't see a more layered comedy.

Arrested Development has the edge, but both shows are great.

Arrested Development, by a mile.

Seinfeld beats both, by split decision.

As much as I hate to agree with Stotty, Arrested Development is infinitely better. Curb's good, but Arrested is on another level. And the episode with Martin Short is hysterically funny.

Christ, I feel all dirty.

And it makes you horny, doesn't it?
