Sketch titles Page 2

I prefer original titles for sketches, rather than just "The Post Office Sketch" or whaterver.

Mr Show sketches have the best names "America Will Blow Up The Moon", "Dying Asshole in Vietnam", "A Trip Up My Mother's Ass" and so on.

Okay then - what would you call a sketch about, say, a greengrocer who's got married to a hamster?

Greengrocer Hamster F**ker. I'm clever like that.

I never said he was f**king it.

Filthy minded smoggy!

Surely they've consumated the marriage!

How about 'Whoops there seems to be a hamster on the end of my todger'

Perhaps not...

That would be the title if they made it into a sitcom.

My approach has always been

Say what you see - if you see it say it.

Hence a sketch about a binman becomes:

Binman sketch.

If it's a runner then:

Binman sketch #1, Binman sketch #2 etc etc.

Don't know if it's actually right but I've never been told that it's wrong - so...

You certainly "plumbed" the depths of spelling there! Hahahahahahaha did you see what I did there?

Hahahaha.

Ahem.

Whoops an unnecessary B.

Whoops an unnecessary B.

Bees are highly necessary.

It really doesn't matter. Sketches don't get picked on their titles. I usually pick boring titles and they still get on. As a producer I barely looked at the titles unless I needed to reference them later.

All I'd advise is that the title doesn't reveal the punchline. So if your sketch is in a job centre with someone trying to get income support because they don't work enough hours and then you reveal at the end that its actually Father Christmas, don't call it Father Christmas Claims Income Support. As there is no surprise.

And probably not enough comedy as I just made that up on the spot.

You're a producer? With who, if you don't mind me asking.

Like a rat up a drainpipe.

Absolutely shameless...

Hah...just cos I beat you to it...

Hah...just cos I beat you to it...

I thought this said "just cos I beat you." And I wondered if it was with a lead pipe or something softer?
