The American Dream

Having read all your posts, about sending scripts to various British Production Companies, it got me thinking, has anyone on here ever sent a script to America? If so, how did it go?

I was thinking about this. Because they have a system where you send in a spec script of an already existing sitcom in an attempt to be employed on the writing team. I did a bit of reading and apparently the first job is to send stuff to an agent and try and convince him to pass it on to producers. It sounded a lot harder to me than it might be in the UK because it seems like there are far more people to convince before you even get close to being paid for anything.

Having said that I haven't tried it so I too would be interested to know of anyone who has.

I have no idea on how you go about getting an agent in the UK. Let alone in the States.

How about somewhere like Ireland? It's closer and there's fewer people so we should have a better chance - and about as much of the same language too!

You've never met my relatives

Really, I think the best way to get noticed is to use this thang we call 'The Great Pornando' or Internet as it's better known.

Get your stuff on Youtube, get it noticed, you'll soon be picked up by some one from around the world, America or here.

Just spread your stuff on the internet, like an STD on a council estate. Get it on here and get out there, doing stand up, extras work, anything, you just have to get yourself exposed.

I want to do extra work. I am not parting with cash first though. Half of those agencys if not most of them are tricksters.

Just hang around movie sets, You seen Eddie Izzard bit where he talks about hanging around studios?

"Hey there's that creeping kid, he'll be good for my film, 'The creeping kid'!"

Get interest from a producer, then you can get an agent on the back of that.

They won't touch you unless you have some degree of interest in your work.
