I have more hand-written stuff than anything else. My rough draft is normally by hand. Typing it up as a first draft gives a good editing opportunity, which hopefully leaves less editing for later.
So the answer is no, the computer didn't get me writing - but it certainly makes formatting/editing more of a pleasure than a chore.
*doffs cap to computer*
So did the computer get you writing & why? Page 2
My first computer did not have a lot to do with writing; it was used for Maths stuff mostly.
It looked like this one (in the Science Museum):
I'm not sure which is the Relic, Me or that computer in this picture.

Nice jumper Bill
I've been typing away on a computer keyboard for so long now that I've lost the ability to write with my hand. Seriously, even a few sentences and my hand turns spastic. It's like I've forgotten how to hold a pen properly. I get cramp in me thumb muscle and everything.
I'm the same way, Lee. Though the typing technique is very similar to dirty lady gusset typing, so no harm done to my love life.
Meanall.
My handwriting, previously pretty shit, is now totally shit. I find the physical exercise in wielding the pen really difficult now.
I have always admired nice handwriting though and wish I could do that there Caligula.
I've only had a computer for about 8/9 years and my writing predates that. I always wanted one, as I found hand writing a chore and like those above I've long since lost the ability to hand write. I remember desperately tapping away at an old clunky typewriter, but it's not the same and I got ink everywhere.
Whenever I see a blank page on a computer screen, I feel an urge to write, whenever I sore a blank sheet of paper, all I could to do was draw/doodle.
I must admit, I have a hankering to get an old manual typewriter and try writing something from scratch on that. Haven't used one since my Mum's massive old Olivetti, back in the 80s. Might give me less options but sometimes restrictions are good. And I would feel like a proper writer!
