I agree, I thought it was very good. I didn't know JS wrote it but there were two gags that I've seen used in Only Fools so I did wonder!

When Dora is suggesting a family knee's up, she says to Boycie "You can come aswell if you want", which is a line ripped from the OFAH episode with Del's Dad. There was another one but I can't think of it right now.

It wasn't a perfect episode, the whole setup for the gag where Jed & Bryan think Marlene wants Elgin was a bit naff but the pay-off was brilliantly done. Also, I'm still not sure why Tyler was miserable at the beginning (which was done so you'd think Beth dumped him) but it was funny nonetheless. I really like his new girlfriend. She fits in well with the rest of weirdos.

John sullivan is superb at giving every character a chance to shine. He's doing the exact same now to what he did in the later series of OFAH.

I find it really obvious when John Sullivan has written an episode. It seems to be 100x times better than others. Home Brew stood out and guess what... written by JS!

Oh my. I was hoping it wouldn't be, but we've got a clipshow. F**k.ing. Hell. Fair enough, the premise of the episode is the best clip-show setup I've seen, and the clips (so far) have been good choices. But flupping Norah, no.

And I loathe that hazy effect which is on so many programmes. It should be consigned to hell. A worse atrocity than Adolf Hitler.

And I think it's unfair to use OFAH clips. Especially the ones that don't feature Boycie. Takes the piss.

I don't object so much to the use of OFAH scenes, but yes, without Well to be fair, the ones where he was talking about his friends had justification in not necessarily featuring him. But the others I'd agree should have him in.

And the bus blowing up - that sequence was edited so it seemed like Rodney was referring to Boycie, but I'm pretty certain he was talking about Del.

Exactly.

They're just trying to use OFAHs legacy because they obviously don't have enough funny bits themselves. Tis Bollocks.

It just showed how much funnier OFAH was than GGG.

And what about that clip from a past GGG episode (which I haven't seen) where Marlene is on the phone to Del, and it cuts to Del on the phone in the 2002 special "Strangers On the Shore". Were we genuinely meant to believe that Del was really speaking to her when he was really speaking to Monkey Harris? I bet it's conned a lot of casual fans who haven't seen Strangers On the Shore that David Jason has actually made an appearance.
And when they edited the coach explosion to make it sound like Rodney was talking about Boycie - it ruined the whole gag (the radio had been sold by Del etc). When did Rodney ever talk about - or even TO - Boycie, for goodness sake! (I mean generally, I know he has in the past - Boycie's Del's friend).

I feel this clip show wasn't for die hard OFAH fans, it was for the casual Only Fools fan who hasn't seen many episodes (especially the clip from Series 1, Episode 2 "Go West Young Man" were Rodney is telling Del about his uniform fetish). I can't believe they robbed classic scenes from Jolly Boys Outing, Heroes and Villians, Miami Twice, A Losing Streak etc - it was more like a OFAH clip show.

This "Boycie writes his autobiography" idea was used in a countdown clip show on UK Gold (where, curiously, they were sitting in a living room which was neither their new or old house).

If anyone was allowed to do it, I suppose that person is John Sullivan. But it's another example of how he's not funny anymore. And - please! - nobody can call this episode one of the best in Green Green Grass, as it was just as much OFAH.

Neither me nor my boyfriend (both fans of GGG) enjoyed this episode at all.

He left the room half way through the episode, and I found myself yawning at times. Very disappointing all round. The premise sounded really interesting but it didn't work at all IMHO. *shakes head*

Absolutely! I've just watched the episode back - the OFAH clips completely outshined the GGG ones. As soon as a sitcom has to resort to a clip show episode, you know it's time to put it to bed.
