It does look a bit home-made, but then this was back in the 1980s. His head looks like it's going to start swinging from side to side in a minute.

The TV Show Supernatural had a pretty disturbing murderous Clown ghost on their show in season 2.

He would ask the children in the house to let him in to play, then had the kid walk him to their parents room where he slaughtered the whole family. Teary The episode scared the hell out of me.
