Legitimate targets Page 3

What about targeting shit comedy? It's hardly ever done. I've only ever seen Family Guy or South Park do it, and it's always really satisfying.

Any particular 'shit comedies' in mind?

As it happens, I'm working on one at the moment.

Heil Honey I'm Home!

Where do people think the line is drawn? I would say it's ok to have a laugh at someone's expense, but you don't want to hurt them. Can you replace the black & gay jokes in your script with jokes about blondes or old ladies with a blue rinse? Is that less offensive?

I think it's best to attack actions rather than anything else. People who do something that is f**king stupid! Attack them and hurt them and make them feel stupid and stop doing what ever it is so the world is a better place.

i.e. people who wear skinny jeans who aren't girls with nice arses. Especially if I've just had my dinner and you're 18 stone.

See - that isn't an attack on fat people. It's an attack on fat people who are stupid. It's these subtleties that make all the difference.

Politicians, celebs or anyone in the public eye are always legit targets.
Especially the WAGS or people who are only famous for being famous, such as Big Brother contestants.

But a no-no are things like disasters.... unless of course you're taking the mick out of, say, the Authorities dealing with them for example.

Never where you expect it and always with you caught spectacularly on the wrong side of it.

Is there an unwritten law between comedy writers?

Heil Honey I'm Home!

Heil Honey I'm Home! was produced in 1990. Only the pilot was screened. The series was cancelled by Sky (BSkyB) on its acquisition of British Satellite Broadcasting. (From Wikipedia)

Is that it? One episode produced in 1990? You give the impression that you think there's a lot of 'shit comedy' on the box. If that's the case, name some current or recent ones!
.

Well I had initially posed the question, is it okay to use shit comedy (or lesser comedy if you prefer) as a legitimate target? And I thought that since that is the subject of this thread it would be an interesting talking point. Some agreed and replied naming comedians who do this etcetera.

I didn't expect someone to ask me which comedies I would want people to target though. So when you did, I thought of one comedy, which was so bad, that Sky(BSkyB) cancelled it after the pilot.

I didn't know that this would disappoint you. I didn't expect you to want more from me. I see now, that in your mind, I am someone who's reach stretches far further than my true worldly capabilities. I'm sorry. I can only disappoint you now. I'm going now, but I want you to know that you've really upset me.

Move along people, nothing to see. :P

Looks like it Stuart! ;)

It seems that humour is in particularly conservative times right now. In the past, there have been outrageous comics 'pushing the boundaries', but who would risk that now?

We need Chris Morris back on form.

What's happened to that film on Islamic extremists he's done? I thought it was supposed to be released last year?

Late last year he made overtures about scrounging cash from fans to finance the thing, so I doubt the project is that far advanced. Probably not finished, or started, filming yet.
