Have you ever written like this before... ?

3 weeks ago, an idea for a sitcom popped into my head.

Within hours, I'd thought of the premises for 4 episodes out of 6. (With the other 2 premises coming to me the next day.)

I felt my brain was going to explode with all the ideas that were bubbling up inside it for this sitcom.

Instantly, I thought of all the main characters and jottled down loads of notes; i.e. conversations, character traits, storylines, etc.

Then, in just under three weeks, I wrong the WHOLE series,(6 episodes) with the last two being rather unique for a sitcom as episode 5 and 6 is basically one two-part story.

That time duration included going back over it and editing/polishing it.

The good thing is, it's the characters that drive this sitcom.
I'm rather proud of the characters.
The sitcom has a "setting", but it's mostly the exchanges betwen the two lead characters that drive it along.

I know I shouldn't have written all of it at once as a producer is bound to want me to change some bits, but I had this insatiable "FLOW" that I couldn't stop.

That's never happened to me before as, usually, it takes that long for me to write ONE episode of something.

Has anything like that happened to anyone else?

Or do you always plod along at a normal pace when writing.

Now that's the sort of confidence I like to see!

:D

Well done, a lot of work there!

I wish a sitcom would hit me like that!

I get it occasionally for sketches and sometimes for short stories where I just HAVE to sit down and write it out of my head.

Yeah, I can't see a problem with it. If a producer asks if you have any ideas for the rest of the series, you do. If they want to change bits, then they can.

You did it quickly, so you've lost nothing and have a whole sitcom series on your hands.

I just wish I could finish one episode.

Ha! Not saying anything does need changing. (lol) ...I'm just going by discussions on here abour prod co's wanting to leave their mark.
:)

Yeah, same here with sketches, but not usually a whole series.
:)

Yeah, I suppose it doesn't hurt to have the whole series written.
Saves time in the long run.

:)

I just wish I could finish one episode.

I have seven other first episodes in my portfolio. One day I'll go on to the second episodes with them. :P

But with this sitcom, it was VRRRROOOOOOOOMMMMMMM!
(Faster than a Clarkson on heat!) :P

'Ha! Not saying anything does need changing. (lol) ...I'm just going by discussions on here abour prod co's wanting to leave their mark.'

It was the confidence about a producer taking it on in the first place I was alluding to Mister J!

:D

You must prepare for change. There is no getting away from it. Your sitcom will probably end up better though. The quickest I've done is an episode in two days. Actually, in about seven hours spread over two days.

Isn't it a great feeling!

Not experienced this with writing but when I used to produce trance music it happened a couple of times... you feel as tho' you can do no wrong... it's just all inside you, just waiting to get out... and everything you do just works and clicks into place! :)

I call it... 'in the zone' Cool

I was an old school raver - though I prefered hardcore Belgian and German techno at that time.

.
I sit on the fence. I'm an old wavering raver.
