Well I can't say I've ever seen anyone 'cept fools I am unfortunate enough to (personally) know, recommend it. But then I don't slavishly read computer mags, so I could have missed it.

Ok, I have a question. Might seem stupid obvious, but is it safe to connect to PCs together via a USB? I understand there is a small power supply running through USB cables, I don't want to break two PCs at the same time, that would be a new record for me.
It's safe. It's unlikely to work without specialist software, but it's safe.
Ok, cheers Aaron.
Does anyone know how to get Networker 7.3.2 to see tape drives over a SAN fabric? We want to use Dynamic Drive Sharing using a new storage node.
It sounds like I'm taking the piss, but we genuinely need help as EMC are next to useless support-wise.

Hi, Basically the USB ports on my lap top don't pick up things i.e "iPhone, camera, iPod, web cam" and I don't know why. It's so annoying. Is there something I can run? It knows it's there (it makes a bing bong sound) but it's like there's not enough power to pick it up fully.
Any ideas?
USB is a nightmare, I'd try unistalling the USB root hub (and everything else under USB Serial Bus Controllers) in Device Manager. Then restart your laptop and let it discover everything again.
If that doesn't work, you may not be getting enough power down your USB cable to power the device correctly.
Do you get an error message at all, Ellie? Presumably at least some of those items should then show up under My Computer... And presumably they don't anymore?

Maybe try plugging the camera/phone into it's mains adapter and USB at the same time before trying the above.
Ah okay. No error message and things USED to show up under my computer, but they don't anymore.
Should I do what Nil said?
Check the post above your second one first Ellie.
Oh, everyone can help with Ellie's Windows problem, can't they?
Does no-one use Solaris 9 on a SunFire SPARC 64-bit V880 anymore???
Dan
They don't all have mains? All batteries. It's like they've conked out one by one.

You need to ask simple questions.

I do! It's just no-one has the effing answers! Not even the company that make the bastard product.
