British Comedy Guide

If you could save one of these...

If you could save ONLY ONE of the following which would it be? And also, if you could sent one to the lowest section of hell which would it be?

- The Green Green Grass Huh?
- Life of Riley Wave
- The Old Guys Teary
- Not Going Out Whistling nnocently
- Grownups Sick
- My Family

I personally would send Grownups to hell and keep Not Going Out. As much as I enjoy The Green Green Grass, it doesn't match Not Going Out.

Save Not Going Out probably.

And send Life of Riley to hell. But only because I've avoided Grownups like the plague.

I would save Not Going Out and send away... either Life of Riley or Green Green Grass. But I don't hate either of them.

I'd save The Old Guys

Would anyone save The Green Green Grass? Does anybody like it? I like it and by viewing figures around another 4 million do. Is anybody here included in that 4m? Does anybody watch it every week?

Well, Not Going Out is the standout best of the list. Not sure how it's even in the same league as the others in order to be 'saved'.

Yes.

I couldn't really care less if any of them go, but I've made my selection.

I occasionally watch TGGG, but I don't worry if I miss it. It feels to forced to me.

NGO is the obvious keeper; GGG is consigned to Hell, because it is the twitching severed limb of the dug up corpse of a once loved sitcom that had itself been allowed to die a sad, pathetic lingering death. Bad though LoR is (and it is bad), it is at least a new show by a new writer, and everyone is allowed one failure before getting it right.

I have never watched Grown Ups, but I understand it is shown on BBC Three, so consigned to Hell already then.

I like that. I must admit. Grownup is dire as is Life of Riley. GGG and Old Guys are good so yes, NGO is the only half decent thing on the list.

I was trying to think of a good comedy to add to the list but I'm afraid I'm stuck. Most comedy is utter crap these days.

I've added My Family to the list. Might help. Might not.

One word! Grownups!

I consider the OED to be a higher authority than Miss Nicksoff.

They haven't written a sitcom though have they.

But then again I am not sure Miss Nicksoff has checked the definition.

You can call your own show/film/book whatever you want! :)

Doesn't have to be in the dictionary. As you well know, you tinker.

The OED doesn't rule over proper nouns.
