Gav Max won't let me attach a mirror reference instance to the controling object. Doesn't even recognise it's there when I press attach. Do you know what I'm not doing here?

Why do you need to attach mirror refs? what are you making?

If you think about it logically the only one it'll take the command from is the original object, all the rest are just references of that not their own object so can't have their own attributes.

Well I cut my starting cube in half and used the mirror to do half the work seeing as the object would be semetrical. I learnt this method off a character modeling tutorial but can't remember where it was to look up how he attached both halves at the end.

I see your point but there must be a way to do it. Unless I have to create another mirror but as a copy this time?

Update: Yes, it worked \O/

Now all I have to do is learn how to not be shit!

Keep at it. Everyone starts to learn somewhere.

Meant keep at Max. Not at not being shit. Whatever I know what I meant.

But I need to know NOW! Teary

My game is really suffering cos of my shit modeling skills.

By the way do you happen to know a way to get Max to render in quads instead of triangles? That would be so handy to cut down on the polygons being exported to OpenGl. I found a script to do it but it didn't do anything. I realised keeping poly count down isn't something that would concern you though.

You just need to be more concious when you model and use the polycount tool. I got a good book on game modelling I'll fish it out morrow for you.

Yeah, I'm using that poly count thing, it's just with Max dividing every quad into triangles it's doubling the size of the model and it's such a waste cos the triangles don't need to be there.

You wanna sell that book? Is it any good?
