Comic Relief Scandal

Anyone read this yet? https://www.comedy.co.uk/news/news.php?story=000223

What made me laugh, apart from it being a pointless story.

'What theres a scandal at comic relief did money not get to the poor Africans which deserved it'
'No, someone didn't get a prize'
'You mean a poor starving African orphan?'
'Nope jus a member of the public'
'oh'

What really made me laugh was this excellent piece of journalism:-
On hearing the news today one viewer commented: "Comic Relief is meant to be a fun broadcast but that sort of deception is just not funny as far as I'm concerned".
One viewer? That could have been any viewer. Since when does a member of the public, who wants to remain anonymous, get to comment on a news story. If I want an idiot giving me pointless 'whats wrong with the world is...' comments then I would get a cab.

What makes me laugh is that anybody believes anything they see on TV... TV is a cesspit, all of it, all the people and everything that's ever been broadcast on it (pretty much...)

It's like politics... politics is full of assholes... as is TV...

Angry

For example, Richard and Judy ... imagine what COMPLETE AND UTTER assholes these people are...

God, this wine is superb... I'm on a roll ... Errr

Yes, but that's what's been engendered by those hapless fools who do the Lotto. I had an argument about this on a radio show once. The point I was making was do people really need the chance of becoming a multi-millionaire to donate to worthy causes? Why not give the money to a worthy cause and feel okay about it?

This notion that 'I won't do anything unless there's something in it for me' is a really terrible indication of how far we have sunk as a society. I did the lottery for about four weeks until they gave Winston Churchill 12,000,000 for some letters written by his grandfather, which he claimed he couldn't afford to keep.

That was the moment I started to give directly the the causes I believe in without any chance of my personal fiscal enrichment.

That's fine for you mate, well done... Wave

But I don't give to charity as I think that's the job of governments... why are we paying so much bloody tax if they aren't going to sort problems out, eh?

ha ha. The Sun newspaper has been training us. Expect plenty more quotes from 'an un-named insider', 'a local resident', and 'a close source'. Actually the viewer did have a name but I didn't think that was important.

As for it being a 'pointless story' - well to a degree yes, however I don't much like the telethon aspect of Comic Relief (as mentioned above - why do you need a prize to phone in?) so it was a chance to have a dig.

I donate to a couple of relatively obscure ones, but I agree. And that's why I ignore the chuggers who try and mug me on my way to work every day. Bastards.
