you know... I don't know. I liked this show called "The Tick" which was based off a comic book, and I liked the early Scrubs, but there's a lot of British shows I like better.

I watch US television sometimes... of course, my own set only picks up Spanish-language networks, and that's if I put it on the floor.

Friends. HMV.co.uk are currently selling the DVDs for £9.99/season. Worth a buy?

Definitely worth a buy. Start from season 1 and move on in order, you'll like it by season 5.

Friends and Curb? What have you done with the real Aaron?

Does Aaron know that they aren't 70s sitcoms?

Well, after the praise that's been handed out to some shows in recent weeks, I thought I'd give some a go. Friends I've only really seen a small handful of episodes of in the past, and I don't remember much about it. Thought it was alright, but not brilliant. I would have come in mid-season and so presumably in the middle of a story arc of one form or another though, which wouldn't have helped.

CYE, as said on the other thread, I've only seen about 5 minutes of. Or 2 minutes. Well basically nothing, anyway. Just happened to spot that it was only £6, so, well, it's only £6! Even if I don't like it, it's not a huge dent in my bank balance.

(Anyway, I do like some American sitcoms. Frasier, Becker, 3rd Rock From The Sun, King Of Queens, Spin City, etc. And yes, even Everybody Loves Raymond is alright.)

I'll check and see if CEX have any Seinfeld whilst I'm in tomorrow, too.

I didn't know Friends had a story arc.

There friends, then they sleep with each other, then they are couples. Its an ingeniuos story arc. In real life people are friends, then they sleep with each other, then they are horribly scared for life.

You know, at the end of the day, I have to say that OF BLOODY COURSE the Americans can do comedy, you'd have to be a total moron to argue that they cant, am I right or am I right?

Come on guys, get real!!! Laughing out loud

I think they took slap stick a bit too far in Iraq though. I know the Marx brothers were funny but bombing British soldiers just takes the mic.

I hate the "yanks" for Hiroshima and Nagasaki... it just wasn't right... well, I don't think so anyway...

Not funny that, no way... no forgive and no forget...

We burnt down the Whitehouse in 1812. I love telling Americans that Laughing out loud Problem with America is exactly the problem we have here. The politicians don't listen to the people and the people don't care. If all America was like New England and California then America would rule. Sadly there are bits inbetween. :(

I've been contemplating this for a while.
It seems that a lot of the 'new' American comedies are re-hashes of British ones. For example, The Office, Coupling etc.
I personally cannot see why they just do not broadcast the British versions of them instead of, in my opinion, slaughtering them to fit an American mold.

Can anyone enlighten me?

America is a completely different culture than ours ... hence the need to rewrite it...

They're more foreign than 'foriegners' mate...

Also, you only make 6 episodes a season (usually). We do 22+.
