Is BBC 2 comedy dead?

BBC1, not BBC2, has commisioned Omid Djalili to make a 'provacative' comedy program to be broadcast at 9:30 on a Friday night. Shouldn't BBC2 be doing this? I can't think of any new comedy programs that have been innovative, with the exception of QI, that have been commisioned by BBC2 recently. Does that mean that we are now going to have to rely on BBC Three for output? The problem with that is that BBC Three has a very different mandate and demographic to BBC2. Is BBC2 comedy dead?

Hasn't BBC2 comedy always been on a Thusday night? It's kind of like tradition but no, i don't think comedy is dead, it's just in a period of sleep, transition.

Or if you want another word "deadness." Laughing out loud

It certainly seems that way at the minute, but just wait till Autumn...The Peter Serafinowicz Show, the sketch show's last hope.

Is BBC 2 comedy dead?...

Yep

Zoo That post was bloody long winded eh!
I thought you were never gonna stop yapping. :)

I would love to know what was there before.
Were you yelling?

We're just in the "down-time" of the year at the moment. Probably. I think Roman's Empire was relatively innovative though. Certainly by modern standards. No less innovative than QI anyway.

didnt BBC2 make that comedy with the ships in space and that fat guy off simon pegg and err... god where am I going with this... someone help me out here!

Yeah Hyperdrive, its shit. :)

yeah that lump of turd... I watched one episode and along with romans empire I never watched it again.

PS I heard romans not bad but it really didnt grab me

Roman's Empire is about as innovative as Mock The Week. They both steal off better shows namely Arrested Development and HIGNFY

I just realised I'd said exactly what hotzappa had already said. But I couldn't find the delete option.
But let's pretend I said something really witty and fabulous instead shall we.

When you edit, just tick the delete box. Then it'll delete it.

Ahhhh. Thanks. Easy!
I think I panicked.
