No doubt you are correct, but whatever the bully's side of the story it is not always directly connected to the victim.

I know my bully came from a broken home. That can never justify hauling me out of my wheelchair, leaving me clinging to a post while she gave people 'goes' in it, then coming back to blow her nose in my hair and then kick me until I was black and blue and then left me collapsed in a heap in the wet playground and needing urgent medical attention.

It did make me stronger though - when I returned to school someone else tried to jump on the bandwagon and I punched her so hard in the face she flew backwards over several desks and ended up wedged between a desk and the wall.
I was pretty much ok after that.

How the hell does that happen in this day and age? It drives me up the wall that when I've worked with young people with learning disabilities and associated needs at school. It's bullying that's the only real problem
At times we seem to live in a guilt ridden society, obsessed with sympathising with offenders.

I would never suppose that Loopey, I would also never think that anything justifies the sort of treatment you were forced to endure.

Mother f**kers! Console Console

That is so shocking. And so disgusting.
I hear a new example every day of why human beings are just smashing.

Did you hear the one about the election of a Labour Government...?

Not in his wettest dream could Gordy be a tenth of the vicious mean spirited bully Thatch was. At times I look forward to your posts under a conservative government.

So do I. ;)

I was never bullied, even though I'm reasonably short, and so you would have thought prime bully meat. If anyone did feel the need to have a go I would stand up to them before it went into actual bullying territory.

Wooo for the short arses! \o/

Agreed. Well pointed out. We DO need communism.

Overlooked? You can't give a guy an open goal and not expect him to take a punt at it.

It was a very long time ago that it happened to me, but working with youngsters with special needs for fifteen years showed me that sadly it does still go on.

What devastated me at the time was the encouragement my bully got from others and the lack of intervention from my 'friends.' It was a real Lord of the Flies situation.

Years later, studying 'Group Norms' and 'Bystander Intervention' in Psychology, I could understand the behaviour of the other children. I will never understand how the staff allowed it to happen - I think they must have been too scared to get involved.
