South Florida has a huge population of emigrants from New York and New Jersey, so it makes sense. Most of Florida's coastal population come from "up north" with only the interior of the state actually populated by "southerners." But what St. Louis and eastern Wisconsin have in common with California and New England is a huge mystery.
