British Comedy Guide

Comedy celebrity Twitter thread anyone?

Last night I watched live as Jonathan Ross persuaded Russell Brand to join Twitter - who immediately started to hate it because Ross's kids told him Twitter is "for oldies" - so I did a bit of looking around and found a few other comedy twitterers, mainly through their interaction with other non-celebrity followers. Honestly, I found it a bit frightening to see how they suck up to the comedians just to get a word out of them, so they can say, "Wahey, I had a chat with Stephen Fry [Pause] on Twitter".

Anyway, I made a short list of those I found. I have no doubt they're all genuine. Some of them, namely Julian Barrat, have not yet said anything, though.

Care to join in?

Russell Brand: twitter.com/rustyrockets

I saw that as well!

All of them are real.

Where? What? How? etc.

I keep meaning to read Stephen Fry's.
Presumably you have to be all signed up to follow them?

I don't understand the appeal of Twitter. Why would one wish to know what someone's up to at any given point of the day? Blogs are bad enough.

And exactly how many posts have you got in the Status Report thread again?

*shrug*

And how many of them are actually reporting on a 'status'? Very few, I would imagine.

Besides, I don't see the appeal in that either.

It's Stephen Fry though!
I want to know what he's eating for breakfast, and how long he spends brushing his teeth.

Do you see the appeal in this website?

What Is Twitter?

Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?

So, I'll ask again. What IS Twitter? Huh?

See, now you're going off on a totally unrelated tangent. Do I see the point in Google? Do you see the point in BBC News Online?

You don't, actually, as long as you only want to read. Just use a feed aggregator, such as Google Reader: Go to the website(s) above, find the RSS button at the bottom of the page and subscribe to it. Oh, you will have to sign up to send messages to other Twitter users, though.

To read about Russell Brand joining, check Jonathan Ross's entries on January 26.

Now that's just weird.

Welcome to your new girlfriend.

Will you be wanting to strap a camera to my head in order to record everything I do on any given day? ;)

Now who's being confrontational.
