Well, quite possibly. But if that's what's due to me, then so be it.

Points 1 & 3 are still relevant.

They are the only 2 which would work perfectly.

And I may exagerate, but the principles I describe hold true.

1 A society with a democratic rule of law means accepting participation with out choice. The alternative is anarchy.

2 More surveilance protects the innocent, less of it helps the guilty.

For me, many of the weak reasons they give for their measures are bad enough, but the worst aspect of it is that they DEMAND it of you. I thought the Government was supposed to run our society not control us. Obviously I was wrong. Freedom is like anything else, you don't know what you had until it's gone.

As a student, my income is currently nil. I am, however, neither socially nor culturally poor. (I.e. I wasn't brought up on a council estate.)

Hyuck hyuck! Like Dave Cameron's going to care when he's making you fellate him to pay off your student debts.

Money is honey Bloom.

1) Unless the "law" itself is tyrannical and criminal.

2) Unless there isn't the political will to punish the real criminals, just the easy targets.

Money is honey Bloom.

Eh?

What defines tyrannical and criminal?

Eh?

"New Labour"?

I think you'll find fellating David Cameron is pretty close to Aaron's dream occupation.

I really don't have one. So I suppose that'll do.

I was thinking of some of the petty stuff being done by local councils, without recourse to common sense, just following the letter of the law because they can. While real criminals are penalised to a lesser extent.

Quote: Griff @ January 25 2009, 6:31 PM GMT

Yes but you can choose exactly how many rules you are going to enforce and which ones. Liberty is allowing people to do things you disapprove of, a point rarely understood by liberals. New Labour have introduced nearly 4,000 new offences since taking office.

And that of course is where it get's tricky. Laws on freedom of information and communication written in the days of post and landlines need to be updated in the age of e-mail and mobile phones.

And incorrectly filling your bin is a crime, deal with it. The alternative is massive fines from the EU. Or we could leave the EU and trade with Tongo?

If you mix up your recycling you are directly taking money from your local school.

Also if the government sets laws on gathering e-mail data it conversley also limits it's ability to do.

If I'm getting more right wing it may be my snuff habit...

Then that merely proves councils are more effective law enforcers than the police.

The police should do a better job, rather than expect councils to do a worse one.

Recycling doesn't even make it to China these days, it's all in a humagnous sticking warehouse down the road from you.

It's just if we partake in the giant fallacy of recycling the EU fines the f**k out of us.

Are you a Government employee, sooty?

Are you a Government employee, sooty?

You betcha!
I am how ever a union affiliated bolshy lazy swine of the sort who's ruining the country.
And those bin filling fines? Paying my ruddy pension thank you very much.

I have a friend who had a very similar job for the NHS....

Damn, looks like I missed an epic thread while I was napping. :(

What's that clicking sound I keep hearing while reading this thread? Oh, it's just my mouse.
