I liked it very much. I say see it!! A little cringe with a lot of reality. It is the feel good, jump high movie of the year!!! That is if you are not expecting sugar coated crap. :D

Read the book ("Q&A"). Should make a decent movie. Not sure about comedy though...

It has moments.

Hopefully it's Danny Boyle back to his best after a run of pretty mediocre films.

I saw this film last night, it is fantastic. I don't think I've ever seen a film quite like it. Funny, scary, clever, visually spectacular, exciting, it's got the lot.

Also I earned myself some good karma by NOT murdering the greedy bitch sitting behind me rustling her way through the entire leftover stock of Woolworth's Pick and Mix, usually waiting until a particularly quiet and dramatic scene to noisily fight her way into a new bag.

Griff, I hate those packet-rustling bastards. And if there's anyone on BSG that does it, I hate you too. I've recently began turning around and giving the rustler a long hard stare. It's done the trick every time. F**king pig-ignorant bastards. DIE!!! Angry Angry Angry Angry

Agreed.

Can't these people survive two hours without stuffing their faces!!!

It's weird that it stars that boy who used to be a minor character in Skins. He will probably be invited to the Oscars now it's been nominated. That's just too weird.

These kids that make it big always fizzle to nothing, though. Like the one in The Sixth Sense. Or Jamie Bell. He's done other stuff, but never escaped Billy Elliot.

Disagree with the Jamie Bell comment, he was great in Hallem Foe and does well in Defiance. Elliot will always be his defining moment and possibly be his best but then you can only have one best moment. I think he's got a bright immediate future.

BTW, when you said he 'never escaped Billy Elliot' you gave me the image of him in the middle of a highly-charged battle scene suddenly doing a 'pirouette' like some sort of ballet tourettes :)

So has anyone seen this yet? From what I've heard it's pretty harrowing stuff despite the upbeat poster, and anyone expecting am Indian Mamma Mia! is in for a shock. Feelgood movie of the decade?

It's bloody brilliant, best film I've seen for a long while.

Jolly good. I'm downloading...[ahem]...I mean buying cinema tickets for it as we speak.
