It's difficult. Let me give you an example. Imagine you woke up one morning and looked in the bathroom mirror and there was a massive wart on the end of your nose. You can see it, touch it, feel it. You go to work and feel crude cause you have this huge eyesore on your face and you swear blind your workmates are giggling behind your back. You talk to your mates about it and they all say "Ian, there is nothing on your face, we promise you". You think "they are just being nice" as you catch your reflection in the window. All the way home you keep keep touching your face, all the while thinking "why was Karen laughing? Was it cause of my wart? Martin wouldn't look me in the eyes, he was clearly repulsed....". You get home and you look in the mirror and it's still there and you can still feel it.
What I'm saying is people with these kind of disorders find it really hard to listen to friends and loved ones when they look in the mirror and see the problem staring them in the face and be honest, who would you believe? Your friends, or your own reflection? It's amazing how the brain can change what you see.
It's soooo impossible to explain to other people who don't have it!

Hmmm, that's a tough one!
So does it come and go? Will it get better?
You know that I think I can sort of relate, in a small way.
The last thing I am is fat but I've 'always' been dead paranoid that I've got horrible fat legs and I would never dare wear shorts. Even my family used to laugh at me cos of that one, but I was/still am convinced. Suppose it's a bit like that?

Don't worry, you're not more confused than I am!

Congrats on the taxes. I'm working on mine right now. I think I'm going to get a little over $6000 back.
An old friend from Florida has begun a new career as a cross-country truck driver and managed to get a few days off from hauling cow parts and Budweiser. We've been drinking a lot of beer and listening to a lot of music. In a few hours I'll take him downtown to see the Alamo and the Riverwalk. Then it's time for some BBQ at Rudy's before heading home for more beer.
Here's a photo of his truck in complete violation of my homeowners association's rules on parking commercial vehicles in the neighborhood. Note the politically incorrect company logo on the door.
