Doctor Who... Page 279

Ronald D. Moore (?) of Battlestar Galactica fame would be great, if only to see Doctor Who become a dark, adult show.

I'd like a writer who imposed direction on the show. There's always been something a bit aimless about it to me. The Doctor just drifts pointlessly around time and space helping people. He's got no game plan. Or mission. He's just a drifter.

He' a modern version of the Wandering Jew myth.

I'd just like it to be serious enough to be able to believe in it again.

I'd like LESS direction, i.e. don't keep coming back to Earth to see the assistant's mum, or resolve a romcom plot thread. Don't have anything connecting the stories, except for the Tardis & its occupants.

I didn't know Doctor Who taunted Jesus on the cross. Was that in the William Hartnell days?

haha!

Oh I can see that picture getting a LOT of use.

Cross, he was furious mate!

I tell you who I would love to see write a series - David Renwick!

(even though it's missing an apostrophe) :O

David E. Kellie would be good. And get William Shatner in to play the Doctor, thus allowing him to play two iconic sci-fi figures.

He could also sing the theme tune. Yes, I know it's an instrumental, but I bet he could pull it off. :D

Interesting to read todays reports that Martin Clunes was offered the role of DW but turned it down. He'd have been an good choice.

Well, from what I read, he was apparently offered the role of the fake other Doctor in the last Christmas special, rather than the title role itself. I wouldn't have liked him getting the lead myself.

I still think they should get two different actresses to play the same companion, and switch randomly between the two. I'm serious.

How come? Just as a gimmick, or something more?

There could be decent alien reasons for it; it could shift the doc off balance; two actresses could represent different sides of the character; it could be a great escape clause when one is hunted but the other side shows up; etc.

I think it could be fun.

It would also spread the blame if the companion is shit.
