A common misconception. American and Pakistani intelligence services deny that any training or funding of Arabs took place during the war in Afghanistan. Even al Qaeda officials say it never happened and it's probably the only subject you'll ever get all 3 parties to agree upon.

I haven't seen enough evidence to solidly discredit either scenario to be honest. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. I like to feel certain before I make my mind up about anything - I mean certain because the facts I have seen make sense and don't seem majorly flawed. I certainly would never be happy just lapping up everything the state and media told me. You know, politicians really have lied before, as weird and far fetched as that may sound.
But anyway, if these doubters exist can it really be called an 'accepted' explanation?
Poor old Bin Laden you support a violent insurgency in 3 countries, fund several large scale terrorist outrages and a dozen more failed ones.
And people still say you don't exist.

If you're inclined to believe that thousands of politicians, businessmen, soldiers and other "neocons" could secretly conspire together to pull off something as big as 9/11 and the war in Iraq, perhaps you should also consider that a bunch of Islamic fundamentalist terrorists could conspire together to form something like al Qaeda.
