George Bush's last press conference

I'm bucking a trend here but I watched this live and was frankly gobsmacked.

What I saw was not a bluff, crass, toungue-tied idiot as popularised by the media. I saw a charming, eloquent, remarkably candid, witty and relaxed person speaking without script for 50 minutes and fielding some tough questions. And I'm not a fan of Bush, by any stretch.

Saying that, I saw the feeder for tonight's news and it concentrated on Bumbling Bush doing a "Bush-ism". What they failed to point out was (in the context of the conference) he made a deliberate joke of the word "mis-under-estimated".

Last month's unruffled handling of the shoe-throwing incident kinda alerted me to his ability to think on his feet and his physical ability to dodge very fast shoes. I don't think I'd have dodged them. He did well for an 'imbecile'.

Was this performance just an aberration or did we only see a version of Bush that was selected for us by news editors?

Damn, I missed it. Did he mention the 716,760 people killed, and 1,397,255 seriously injured in Afghanistan and Iraq?

Never misunderestimate politically motivated reporting. I worked at a newspaper for 8 years and I saw it firsthand every day.

Maybe he was sober.

I don't think he's an idiot. I do think he's often almost always wrong though. But that is a credit to his ideology not his intelligence.

No if he cared at all it would not have happened. Remorse is not a word that I believe Bush even understands.

Yes but this does not know the meaning of the word fear.

Also the meaning of the word onion, toe or napkin.

Well at last an opinion of yours I disagree with

Politicians try to be endearing, that's their job.

No matter what he says to the cameras he imo still is and always will be a murdering lying thieving piece of shit and I so hope there's a hell just for him.

I'm too gullible (re: politicians) is my problem.
