It's been done with 'Allo 'Allo!. And went down a storm.
What other sitcoms do you think would translate well to stage?

I guess the more farcical ones would work best and definitely the audience sitcoms. My Family is the obvious example.
There was a great Steptoe stage play a few years ago, 'Murder at Oil Drum Lane'.
Fawlty Towers would make a great stage show. Would be interesting to see how all the episodes tied together. And what a great vehicle for actors. Be great to have Basil Fawlty on your cv!
I've seen Steptoe And Son In: Murder At Oil Drum Lane, The New Statesman - Episode 2006: The Blair B'Stard Project and The New Statesman - Alan B'Stard's Extremely Secret Weapon. All three were very good. Would have loved to have seen the recent Dad's Army show and all of the various 'Allo 'Allo! productions.
Very true.
There were also the Carry On shows, which were essentially sitcoms. And I thiiink may have been Dad's Army ones with the original cast too?

There's some footage from the 1970s Dad's Army theatre show on the extras of the Christmas specials DVD.
There was also a Steptoe play in the 1970s done in Australia.
Bottom went on tour four times too.
Craig Charles said somewhere he'd love to do a stage version of Red Dwarf's 'Marooned' episode (the two-hander with Lister and Rimmer).
Joking Apart was pretty much a stage farce on screen, so would probably translate well.

This bit from the Observer last august suggests a Porridge play. Mmm. Dunno bout that.
Ah yes, I'd forgotten about The Likely Lads. And now Porridge too. So. Many. Shows. *wallet cries*
Here's the juice on that Likely Lads play.

I've seen an amateur version. They tied the episodes "Communication Problems", "Waldof Salad" and "The Builders" together, with an interview between each. There was a different Basil in each segment. There was a young Basil, a plump Basil, and a short Basil (who had to do "the walk").
What about films? Have any been turned into films....and more importantly, what should be turned into a film?
