Do as you please, but Mathew to tell the truth.

Every time you tersely take on my opinions, or pop up a little emoticon.

It exites me more than Stephen Hawking watching Dalek porn.

P.S.

Russell if you are still reading this, Dalek porn could be a winner.

I get peeved at the constant nit picking, so rather than say what I didn't like too much, I stick up for it.

Matt, I think this is the problem. What's wrong with people saying they don't like something, and you saying you do, or vice versa? Being honest about what one thinks of a programme? With programmes that you love, you seem to be a bit uberkeen to defend them at all times against perceived slights. But with shows you don't love you pile in with the naysayers like the best of them. I'd rather people always said what they thought of stuff, even if it comes to saying good things about programmes they don't generally like or bad things about programmes they love.

Happy new year!

Well, whats wrong with giving an opposing view? If I don't agree I think it's fair enough to say so isn't it? As long as I don't do it in a nasty or derogatory fashion, which plenty of others on here do. Why is that a problem? If I was trying to belittle others views, then that's a different matter, but I'm not.

Perhaps from now on I should just not bother in getting into a discussion on here with anyone about anything if we don't happen to share the exact same views.

No problem Matt. Just that you implied that you weren't giving your 100% true view because you were keen to support a show you love from a lot of flak. My impression is that's what you do anyway. It's easier to let people have their view, have your view, and then leave it that, isn't it?

But I thought the whole point of places like this is to discuss your views? If someone replies, then you reply back; unfortunately it often seems to degenerate into arguments. Anyway, I'm going to do my best not to bother too much from now on, because it's just turning into a pain in the arse.

Yes, everybody's got opinions, and no two people have the same ones. It's interesting to hear them. But not to hear that someone else's opinion is wrong. Because an opinion is just that -it's not a fact, even when it is held incredibly strongly on either side of an argument. As an observation, I don't think Sherlock Holmes would have too much trouble deducing the common factor in some of these mini-spats (even "mini-spat" is over-stating it a long way), and it isn't me, Sooty, Griff, Godot, etc.

Honestly, I'm trying to help!

Well. Cheers for that. If you think I'm the one with the problem up against well know grumpy pants like Godot and Griff then I suppose I must really have a problem!!! They just happen to say things from time to time, that I disagree with; I'll do my best not to do it again, go cold turkey. Anyway, enough of that.

Nice and moody:

*turns other cheek against unprovoked slight*

Well. Maybe I just meant Godot. You are quite grumpy on here aren't you? Dunno. Wasn't even supposed to be a slight!

Quote: Griff @ January 4 2009, 12:24 AM GMT

Nearly everything I post is intended to be tongue-in-cheek, including that. Maybe I need to get better at it.

Although I am grumpy *sometimes*. But I am sworn to be less so in 2009.

My aim is to be on here less and work more. Less me has got to be a good thing? I have a problem, I'm too easily drawn into arguments!! No self control! Maybe I do need help.

I think people like you Sooty are absurdly critical of a great show, but in case people think I just blindly bum the show, I'll offer up something I greatly dislike-the way they've used the Cybermen. They could be so terrifying, but they're just used as bland, stomping soldiers.

Now Matt this maybe we have a parting of the ways.

You're critiquing me as a person and not my opinions.

So pardon me if I find that a bit insulting and choose to rib you gently in response.

I bet you'd give him your rib, alright. Cor.

No I'm not, I was saying I think, as many fans are, that you're overly critical. It's a valid point, whether it's true or not is another matter.

If something looks like a duck walks like a duck and quacks like a duck then it probably is nice crisped up with some hoisin sauce and served in a pancake. That library thing with a giant wasp was more mallard than Donald himself.

You mean duck as a term of abuse?
