Doctor Who... Page 264

And never shall it, I hope. It's just brought up to get a few extra headlines. The Doctor may be an alien, but he's a male one.

45 years of history? The Doctor is a man, Bond is a man, The Vicar Of Dibley is a woman; some things should just not change. Plus, why make him a woman? Besides an initial sense of novelty?

So that the Doctor can mate with himself (by time shifting) and create a new race of Time Lords?

Fires of Pompeii was mediocre at best. Midnight was just bad.

Wrong.

I think people like you Sooty are absurdly critical of a great show, but in case people think I just blindly bum the show, I'll offer up something I greatly dislike-the way they've used the Cybermen. They could be so terrifying, but they're just used as bland, stomping soldiers.

Yeh people like us, we stink don't we.

More it's a balanced view of a show I greatly enjoy but at times frustrates the heck out of me.

The way something I truly love can.

Last season we had the return of UNIT yay! And what a heart stopping bit of action the Sontaran battles were (and slyly showing some of the flaws of the character of the Dr)

Silence in the Library, Turn left and the bits of Midnight that worked. Shows that were way better than US scifi shows with 10 times the budget.

Dr Who is that rarety of a modern scifi show, it's clever and it's about ideas.

And when Who bottles it, like with the 2nd episode of the Master episodes.

It's annoying precisely because it's missing the high standard it sets its self.

Wrong.

I know you are.

N.B. Turn Left; how many sci-fi shows could cover genocide of ordinary people in a tea time slot?

Well, it's your opinion, rather than a balanced view; you're certainly much more critical than anything else about the show. In fact, most comments you put on this thread seem to be negative; if anything I say too many nice things just because of the constant negativity of a few of you! I get peeved at the constant nit picking, so rather than say what I didn't like too much, I stick up for it.

They should have a bit more genocide on Gavin and Stacey.

And Big Brother, genocide TV I'd pay to see that.

And Stott I don't think you're being fair.

To be frank I think you tend to get a little over exited and take stuff about TV shows a little personally.

You're not drinking an orange squash overly rich in tartarazine are you?

The new guy comes across very well in the interview on the Doctor Who website. He seems very excited.

I wouldn't say so, I jut get bugged when what I see as quality is rubbished. I tend to at least try and keep my arguments even, whilst others call things 'the worst thing ever' or call those involved c**ts who are raping their childhood!! :D

Raped my childhood? Rubbishing quality? Calling those involved c**ts?

Stott I haven't written any of those things.

I'm starting to wander if you can actually read, or just type things at random when you think you recognise some ones names.

*sighs* Ok, brushing the insult aside, I never said that you said those things. did you read MY comment? I said people. As in people in general. As others have said those things, so they were big examples that popped into my head to help illustrate my point. But of course, the rubbishing quality comment does apply to you; or at least, rubbishing what my tiny mind sees as quality.

Matt, this is a comedy site though, we do generally say things like "that was the worst TV ever" with our tongues in our cheeks for comic effect. It's not carefully considered criticism. If there's a cheap jibe to be had then it's usually a race between me and Sooty.

All I'm trying to do is have a polite, lively discussion! Surely it's not such a terrible thing to express my own point of view in a reasonable manner? These threads are here for that very reason, aren't they? It seems when people do actually try and do that though things eventually collapse into an argument! :D Maybe that says a lot about human nature! (Not the scarecrow episode)

This is beginning to become quite fascinating.

I don't rubbish Dr Who, I am merely critical of some of the episodes.

You do seem to get rather exited when ever I type something, well frankly about anything.

Perhaps that's the crux of this disagreement.

I exite you, my mixture of poor grammar, fervent opinons and rubbish humour inflames something deep with in you.

p.s. Russell T Davis if you are reading this please don't cancel Who, Torchwood, that rubbish cartoon, the even worse one with K9 or The Sarah Jane Adventures.

They're all ace.

n.b. Russell ignore Griff he's just really scared of Ianto Jones.

Yes, that's it. I think you're mixing up excitement with just seemingly disagreeing with you a lot and stating so. Would you rather I just ignored all your comments? That would make about 60% of this forum off limits!
