Best Sitcom Series of 2008? Page 2

Very poor year. Nothing.

You're kidding right? I particularly enjoyed a number of sitcoms this year. In no particular order, they included: Peep Show, Lead Balloon, The Inbetweeners, Cabin Pressure, Ed Reardon's Week, Pulling, Hut 33, Double Science, Bleak Expectations, How Not To Live Your Life, All Bar Luke, Outnumbered and Count Arthur Strong.

Yes, admittedly 2008 also brought us Clone, Coming Of Age and Lab Rats... but every year has duds.

Anyway, as Aaron mentioned above, The BCG Awards 2008 will be along shortly (this weekend) to help us come up with a definitive picture of what was hot and what was not in 2008.

For those that haven't taken part in our awards before, we basically dish up a list of every comedy that has been broadcast in the year, and you get to choose your favourite/most hated in each genre. Last year Gavin and Stacey and Peep Show came out top, and Vivienne Vyle and Hyperdrive came out the other end.

If American sitcoms are included, then I'd also like to mention The Big Bang Theory. The writers have obviously put a lot of work into the scripts, coming up with all of that nerdy shit.

Since this is the British Sitcoms forum, probably not. But it is an ace programme though, I agree.

Peep Show, Outnumbered, Gavin & Stacey

It vaulted that toothsome fish during Series Four but Peep Show was still the best returning (honourable mention to Outnumbered).

I enjoyed Pappy's Fun Club but don't think it could be sustained for a series... The Inbetweeners was head and shoulders above everything else in my opinion (mainly due to 'everything else' being incredibly shite).

I agree so much with these. No Heroics especially. Timebomb is probably one of my favourite superhero characters ever now.

I thought 2008 was better than 2007 for British sitcoms, apart from the Christmas specials. The Inbetweeners & Moving Wallpaper were good and probably the only new ones I liked, but there was a good return from Peep Show, Lead Balloon, The IT Crowd and Gavin & Stacey. Can't wait to vote.

No Heroics

Forgot about that series, I really enjoyed it.

What about Gavin and Stacey?

The Kentucky Fried Chicken scene was fantastic. Sorry Gav... Sorry Stace... The writer's characters: Nessa and Smithy get my top vote, here. It was finger licking hot, to say the least, and I'd take Smithy's corn on the cob for a dunkin' in my coleslaw any day.

And let's face it... Barry and Billericay... world's apart.

Billy Ricky, Ricky. Here comes Bill-er-Ricky. Billy Ricky, Ricky lay it on me. Ooh. Same again Smithy, only this time, how about baked beans and a smartie topped ice cream?

I wouldn't joke about such matters.

It was different. I laughed. Those other Comedy Labs were awful though.

Take it Pappy's got a kicking on here then?

It got a bit of a kicking. I think the problem was people's expectations for it were very high, what with their stage tour having gone down so well with audiences. The episode was never going to be able to live up to people's expectations when it arrived.

Hi ,

They hasn't been much in the way of Comedy Series that outway the standards of Two Pints so I am going to have to say Two Pints for 2008.

"and I'd take Smithy's corn on the cob for a dunkin' in my coleslaw any day. "

Possibly the most disgusting euphemism I've ever come across. well done
