Here is one of the few pictures of my dad. He does not like his picture taking. He believes in "soul snacthing" so only few can knowingly take of his looks.
He was head man at "north american indigenous gathering 2008" Meaning you must be of wise and have lived a life of traditions and sacredness.All follow him into the gathering.
I like his headgear.

No he does not go by washichu calendar. He wanted to meet who is in my life and he has started to ACCEPT me as being onward. So I told him of this party and he said for me he will turn an eye to behavior not of his likes and try to understand me.
Haha! Aw, bless. Well I'm sure he'll come around. A teeny bit. Even if he doesn't admit it.

The white elephant game was funny. I got a ceramic picture with George W Bush on it. Too funny!(the idea of game is wrap up something you do not want)
The items wrapped were hysterical. Horrid ties, cheap wine and silly kitchen gadgets. Every item was funny in own way.
Lots of food and fun was had by all and I even saw my dad laugh a lot.
He will stay one week and wants to work some on my house. Today my brother and dad are putting in a dog door for Buster Keaton who they both like very much.
Tonight he will have "ghost supper in the snow" Since I was not at the annual ghost supper. Almost all of the people from my party last night are coming to my dads ghost supper.

So what does a ghost supper involve? Is it some kind of thing to do with your ancestors (hence the ghost bit)?
I have Native American roots. But I don't know much about it. Will have to look into it one day. I remember hearing the name Cherokee, but I understand that's a very general term, is it not?
I think it was only 4/5 generations back, so it was all consensual.

Yes, it is to honour those who have left mother earth. It is annual in fall but can be done any time. He will start with my mum and sister and go on to those who have walked on in last four seasons. He will continue with offerings of tobacco, cedar and wild sage for healing of heart and hope for new life and for ours to be filled with traditions of honour (where he will look at me, this I know
).
We will be outside with fire of wood and have what food dad offers to eat. He has not shared what food he will serve with me so it will be a surprise for me too.
I do see he will have many ceremonies while here because he knows I am not with others of our beliefs and worries of me not being of who I am.
He smudged ( sage cleansing ceremony) all party goers last night before allowing them coming in my house.They all thought it was cool, thankly.
