Certainly. Well the first gag was based arund the old reversal of expectation procedure. The questioner asked why those in full time education were barred from entering the competion. Clearly reffering to students. I usurped that expectation by taking it to mean teachers and lecturers. But not just any educationers, specifically those teaching Media Studies. Thus layering the gag with another subtle point. I.e the BBC wouldn;t be looking for those people to apply as wanted eople who were actually capable of DOING rather tan just talking about it.

The second gag was more character based. Tony Jordon is often quoted on the homepage of the Writersroom as saying 'I write because I have secrets no one else knows.' The gag here being that if Media lecturers were allowed into the BBC they would steal these secrets and teach them on their courses.

Hope that helps.

It's going to be a long 2009. :(

I still don't get it.

And I did the old music hall trick of hammering home a point previously made by Marc.

PS I see your avatar friend is lined up for Celebrity BB!

Lucy will do badly. The audience for BB is largely women, and women contestants - especially young attractive ones - traditionally do very badly. :(

Back to the original question and hope for a real answer if any of the BSG experts actually knowWhistling nnocently

why O why...."Must not be in full-time education"

Tim Dawson was - and is - in full time education. Isn't he?

She's in there with Michelle Heaton and Mutya Buena though, who look like they will be filling the 'bitches' role. Lucy, as well as been known for her humongous breasts, is also known to be quite a down to earth kind of girl in the world of 'glamour' right? I think she'll do well, she may even find love with Mini-Me. :P
