Blimey. The first half of this was rollicking good entertainment. Playful, funny, mysterious and exciting. Then RTD goes and ties up the main mystery of the episode about 25 minutes too early and we're left with a second half "who cares" story about crap cybermen. I started nodding off.
Morrissey was great, though. And the first half was comfortably better than anything in the previous Who Christmas specials.

Sooty, I disagreed with one point; I did not agree with the other, just stated Torchwood would be coming back. A pretty loose definition of 'losing the plot' there.
That last line doesn't make any sense, so I imagine you mis-typed. Older Who did well in it's format, but times and TV have changed, the format now works for the broad audience it needs to attract. I would also prefer more multi-part episodes, but I am aware that what I, as a big fan, might want isn't automatically best for the shows future and continued success. Pleasing a minority of geeks will not keep the show on air.

I wasn't arguing, Sooty just took what I said in a slightly huffy manner, for whatever reason.
I thought it was excellent, by the way. And much better than last year's overblown bit of rubbish, which has the distinction of being the only episode of New Who I've only watched once.

Current Who copies the format of Star Trek the Original Series, a similar cast of characters enjoying generally one shot episodes. Same as the Avengers and the Prisoner all great shows.
And a minority of geeks? Millions watched old Who who are now watching new Who.
Certainly the new one has it's charms, but I dislike squahed rushed story telling. That's not really geeky is it?

Yes, a minority of geeks. There's millions of general viewers, a much smaller percentage of what you might term fans, then an even smaller percentage of die-hard fans. By the end, very few people were actually watching Who. The makers of the show should not listen to 'fans', they should listen to themselves and make the kind of show they think will pull in the big audiences this kind of show needs.

I wasn't 'dissing' arc plots, I'm all for them; you were talking about six part stories, like they had in the past, not arcs, which most shows of this type, including new Who, have.

n.b. a surprising number of succesful US films and TV series read forumns and modify they're content around it.
Turns out that some times the minority of geeks can be right.
Perhaps that would have helped avoid some of the infuriatingly repeated poor formula episodes.

Then these people are fecking weak! They should realise they did something right to have a forum in the first place, and everyone knows hardcore geeks on forums like to pick everything to pieces and moan about completely stupid, minor things.

Again, I'll have to imagine what you actually meant by this sentance. Sacrifices? It's a TV show, nothing they decide to do is any great sacrifice really, is it? Whatever they've done to it, it's been a huge success, so well done on them. I'm looking forward to Moffat taking over, because I think we'll get, what I think, will be a better show. But if he does things I don't agree with, then that's tough, I'm not making the show so I don't get a say in it.
Anyway, I'm getting fed up with all these little arguments that seem to arise every time I try to disagree, or give a differing opinion. Maybe I'll just agree with everything everyone else says from now on, evidently having your own opinion is a hangable offence!

Not all forumns are as embittered as BSG, some are quite friendly positive and good natured.

As for people arguing with you, 2 suggestions.
1 Be wrong less often.
2 Be less open about your wrongness.
