The Royal Tapes Page 2

In the Royal Tapes FAQs bit it said you could submit two, each 3 minutes long. Since mine initially came out at six minutes (surprise, surprise!) I chopped it in half and sent in a Part 1 and Part 2 each of 3 minutes that way. Part 1 more or less stands up on its own although I personally prefer Part 2 (that doesn't!).

You've rather shot yourself in the foot by sending in Part 2 then haven't you?
I can't imagine they'll bend the rules for you but here's hoping

Maybe, but then they might decide to do both of them. Two 3 minute scripts can be submitted ... they don't say they will only accept one per person (so that's not rule bending) and I can't see that their being linked (story-line-wise) is a particular disadvantage! We'll see. If someone gets their's through from within this forum's members then they will have my total admiration. It's all a bit of a gamble. Lord knows how many entries they've had. The one worry I have with mine is I'm not sure McGowan does the voices I went for ... Culshaw and several others do but that ain't quite the same!

My main concern is that it's my first dabble in drama (or at least drama that is no way comedic). Still, it was nice to not have to rely on laughs. My admiration too, to whoever gets the nod

My main concern is that I didn't realise it was meant to be a drama! My sketch doesn't raise any controversial points or explain how the Royal family affects my life!!

....The only talking point my sketch possibly raises is "what would happen if we sold the Queen to L.A. Galaxy football club!"

Weird that! Mine was what would happen if we didn't sell the Queen to L.A. Galaxy football club!

That'll teach me to believe the Sun sports pages.

Cool. Between us we have all possible eventualities planned for!

Except if she joins Real Madrid.

Well, if you haven't heard by end of today (as the W-R blurb says) ... then you haven't had whatever you submitted accepted! Bummer init! I really thought I had a good one ... probably as did all others who sent stuff in. I shall now go and consume the other half litre of red which will make me feel slightly better although somewhat less coherent! However, I would like to say that anything put up for critique tonight will get the works from me as an ignored and very pissed off crap-writer ... so be warned!!!
Who's got something accepted then? Anyone here? ... come on ... own up! I need a target for my pique! (Oh, shit, I've just spilled the red down me skirt). Only joking (at least about the spill). Anyway ... anybody who wins will have my total admiration (and if I say that just once more I think I'll really throw up this time !!!). Dammit, it's Friday again, don't know why I said that. Saturday all you lot go out an' do interesting things ... I stay at home and scrub out the animal sheds ... they don't appreciate it ... but then they're lunch in a couple of weeks so I put up with their idiosyncracies. Right, that's it, I'm heading for the cellar ...

I was told:

winners will be announced on the website http://www.bbc.co.uk/writersroom/opportunity/royal_tapes.shtml
on Monday 9 July.

Maybe that's 'cause of the postal strike delaying stuff?
Or is someone going to prove us wrong and be all warm and smug in their joy?

I just found this on the Five Live site (follow the Mathew Bannister link):

The Royal Tapes Winners

Thanks for all your entries, we were very impressed with the quality of writing. The five winners are:

Andrew John - "If I Ruled The World"
Dave Charter & Michael Wainwright - "Grouse"
Donna Marie Glashen - "Illusion of Grandeur"
Deborah Westrup - "Test The Nation"
Tony Price & Hugh Wheeldon - "In Off The Brown"

Anyone we know?

I'll sling my unfortunate effort into the Critique section later or tomorrow maybe ... it ain't going anywhere else!
