Frank Skinner

I'll open a new thread about this comic with the following article. Looks very interesting IMO.

I was never a big fan of Frank's until recently. I used to watch his chat show, and Unplanned quite a bit (albeit on repeats), but wasn't that impressed until he started popping up on TV again recently, particularly of Have I Got News For You, showing up Paul Merton for the tired, lazy comic that 16 years (or whatever it is) on the show have made him become.

Anyway.

Frank Skinner good. Yes.

Exactly my sentimoney, Merton must be cacking himself . . . (and didn't he seem very touchy with Ian in the crimbo special? (that's touchy as in touching, not touchy in an emotionally fragile state)

Also the Panorama special, it seems ITV are trying to steal their thunder as their Tonight show has got Richard Herring to do the same thing (which he openly admits to) by doing a non-sweary and a very sweary show of pretty much the same material to different audiences on the same night.

I got his new DVD today!

I bought his book the other day, going to read it when finished with Steve Martin's.

I saw the second half of Have I Got News For You, last night, and Merton didn't open his mouth once. When he does talk, all he usually says is something like, "Why has the bloke in the picture got a tree growing out of his ear?" Skinner should take his job.

I think I've commented before on Skinner but if not, personally, I think he's as funny as AIDS.

Well I'd like to think that Bob Monkhouse, one of the late great comedians of our time knows more than you obviously do seeing as he considered Skinner to be one of the best comedians he had ever seen.

You see, as I implied in my previous post, comedy is an entirely personal thing.

I don't find Skinner in the least bit amusing never mind funny but that doesn't mean that to others he is not God's gift to comedy.

My statements are my personal opinion. I have the highest regard for Bob but that doesn't have to mean I accept all his views. Do You?

For example, as I recall, Bob had a masterclass in comedy/stand up from Max Miller when on the same bill.

How many of you have ever seen or heard Maxie?

Comedy is a bit like music, each generation learns from the past. Ask Skinner.

Erudite comments like OFFS don't really move us on, do they?

I like Frank. He's very witty and quick. I don't like all his projects but much enjoyed Unplanned and his chat shows were OK.

A quote from another comedian not me . . any clue ?

I've mentioned this before, I love Frank Skinner. He's one of the quickest comedians out there. He'd be great on a show like Whose Line or Thank God You're Here if they bring that back. He should take over from Paul Merton. Frank was great on Question of Sport the other day.

Got his new live DVD for Crimbo, watched it last night, very funny.

That is all. :)
