Video Games.

Does anyone play 'em?

I play about 1 game a year, my last being 'Resident Evil 4' on the PS2.

Before that it was 'Tomb Raider: Legend' and before that 'Shadow of the Colossus'. All which I throughly enjoyed.

Any of you gamers out there know of any other good games to get, recommend what can be 'this years game?'.

I used to be 'a gamer' till about 14 and then I discovered... sandwiches, I mean tv, no music, do'h I mean boys, no wait girls! Whatever, games didn't interest me as much!

Anyway, let's start the obvious discussion: Favourite Video Game?

Mine might be 'Zelda: A Link To The Past' on the SNES (Super Nintendo)

Unreal tournament! I've only got one of the older versions...but I still love that game.

I dont play with anything that I cant climax at the end of.
My man plays Championship football all day every day. All through the night. I lurrrrrrrrrrve that game.:)

I was a massive game fan... until I was struck with nervous exhaustion. Seriously... at the end of last year I was playing 'Rainbow Six:Vegas', online on my 360, from about midnight 'til 4 or 5 in the morning. I'd then go for about two hours sleep and then get up to start work. I did that for about 5 weeks... until my body and brain said 'Oi... no more!'

I basically cracked up… a combination of no sleep and stress-inducing game-play. I then panicked about my health which led to a downward spiral of fear and anxiety. I spent three months of this year on pills to prevent dizziness and nausea... and beta-blockers to alleviate panic attacks. Specialists, MRI scans… you name it. I’ve even been seeing a psychologist.

I’m a lot better now but I’m still not able to watch the kind of motion that first-person play creates on-screen… I get nauseous almost immediately. I even get a little sick with normal monitor use.

Here’s to excesses!

Anyway… ‘Rainbow Six’ was/is brilliant. And one day, when I’m fully recovered, I’ll be able to play again… although this time in moderation!

Apart from that… you can’t beat the old classics. I used to love ‘Manic Miner’ on my Spectrum. If you saw it now, you’d laugh… but it had a charm many games just don’t have anymore.

I used to have a spectrum, well my brother did. I remember his next one, the commodore better, I liked that.

I like the third person shooters more then first person, I'm crap at them, they go to fast for me.

Pro evo scoccer on the ps2 or grand theft auto are the ones I can spend days on..

I used to have GTA:Vice City, never completed it, just used to spend the time getting into police chases and trying to find the most creative way of escaping.

Well what console do you own? Gears of war for the 360 is incredible. Nothing much shouting about on the PS3 yet. Guitar Hero for the PS2 is a lot of fun.

Counter Strike Soure is amazing I play that nearly every day when I have a chance. I also play Call of Duty 2, Pro Evolution, GTA and Time Splitters is still genius even though its old and on the Game Cube. I really want a Wii though, someone buy me a Wii please.

Welcome Mark,

I own a PS2. I can't afford the next gen yet, it's certainly too much for someone who only plays about 2 games a year. I like the action/adventure shooters, like Tomb Raider.

Also got a Dreamcast, which I kept because I have a disk with 900 snes games on it, retro heaven.

And a snes itself.

Hi Mark welcome. I assume since you like gears of war you are a FPS nut like myself, got any others? I haven't got a next gen either because I told my bank manager I wanted one and he had a heart attack, BUPA is so expensive these days. :(

I haven't played computer games for a while however if you're looking for a solid shoot-em'-up I'd recommend Doom 3 or Half Life 2 - both great games I really enjoyed.

My top five of all time would have to be...

Half Life 2
Transport Tycoon
Grand Theft Auto 3
Command and Conquer
TOCA Touring Cars

1) Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the N64
2) Ico on the PS2
3) Crimson Skies on the original Xbox
4) Resident Evil III on the PS1
5) Rainbow6:Vegas on the 360 (although this nearly killed me - literally!)

Gears of War looks nice but gameplay is a little lacking... GhostRecon Advanced Warfighter 1& 2 are great... but all of these games come into their own when played on-line, against (or with) other players. Much more fun.

kids have prevented me from playing too many games over the last 7 years.
i have a terrible problem though. its called Football Manager 07. it used to be championship manager. the problem is that it lives on the machine that i am supposed to use for writing. whenever i turn the thing on there is a little voice in my head saying "just one quick game. it can't hurt." 10 hours later...
