Hopefully in the new year you'll continue this trend of explaining your jokes. It'll save us all a lot of time and effort.
Certainly. Well the first gag was based arund the old reversal of expectation procedure. The questioner asked why those in full time education were barred from entering the competion. Clearly referring to students. I usurped that expectation by taking it to mean teachers and lecturers. But not just any educationers, specifically those teaching Media Studies. Thus layering the gag with another subtle point. I.e the BBC wouldn't be looking for those people to apply as they really wanted people who were actually capable of DOING rather than just talking about it.
The second gag was more character based. Tony Jordon is often quoted on the homepage of the Writersroom as saying 'I write because I have secrets no one else knows.' The gag here being that if Media lecturers were allowed into the BBC they would steal these secrets and teach them on their courses.
Hope that helps.
PS I see your avatar friend is lined up for Celebrity BB!
