At the start of the year, was there a thread on here about writing goals and aims and objectives for 2008?
If so, it would be interesting to see it bought back to life to see how people got on, but if not then we could just, kind of, start one...
A Thread From The Past About The Future
At the start of the year I was in a writing partnership. We had just got some good feedback on our sitcom pilot and were in the process of some rewritting ready to send it out to production companies. Everything was looking to be going to plan.
One year later and my writing partner and I went our seperate ways and called an end to our partnership. All of the production companies eventually got back to us and said 'thanks but no thanks'. So you could say I was back at the beginning again.
But I don't see it like that. The whole thing has been great experience and just made me want to work harder towards that elusive writing dream.

At the start of the year, all I was doing was writing a novel...
...and "thinking" about writing some TV scripts.
Then in July, I thought "Right! Gotta get off my arse and write scripts" then I did a bit of research online, found this site, and found some great, helpful people. 
Now I'm writing sketches for News Revue/Treason, jokes for 118 and have various scripts doing the rounds.
I feel I've actually got somewhere... albeit small successes, but STILL something worth it.
Start off year - Was in a writing partnership with a sitcom and sketch show script wanting to do stand up.
Now - Doing stand up, loving it and have pitched a TV idea to the BBC.
Writing partner is travelling around the world, however found some great comics and friends around the stand up circuit to bounce idea's off.
Still a hobby but getting closer all the time...
How many times have you done stand up now?
About 25 gigs in 3/4 months, I really hammered it.
I found it's no good doing it once a week, it feels like you're starting from scratch each time.
Wow, that's great. I'd love to do it as well, but I'm waiting to see what comes of my sitcom first. If nothing comes of it, I may use bits of my script, to construct a stand up routine. By the way, have all the gigs been in London? Also, how have you got that many gigs? Do you have an agent?
I was planning several sitcoms with "a writing partner". She subsequently was too busy! (Bitch!)
I've had a couple of short plays staged and then we filmed a proposed stage play last week to send round to various theatres - so have achieved something in spite of various distractions!
Promised myself I'd finish my sitcom pilot.... still haven't but I am soooo close. I am confident that it will be in good shape to send it in early January.
This site is extremely helpful - to not feel alone is very powerful and inspiring. Of course the site is also the perfect excuse to not sit down and finish my sitcom.... hmmmmmmm .
I had no real plans to to write anything at the start of year, but I spent some time off work sick in the spring and began writing to amuse myself; then I discovered this site and veered towards broadcast comedy.
I intend to continue writing next year, but feel I need to make a decision about where my aptitude lies and where my energy is best spent.
I've been steadily going in reverse.
Started the year doing stand-up, live sketch stuff, got some sketches on the radio and then a very quiet 2nd half, just writing and putting stuff together.
Hoping next year will reverse this trend; will have (hopefully) completed a project with two other writers from here - which I think will be fab when it's finished - and will be starting a MA in screenwriting. I also hope to finally finsish off a few sitcom pilots.
At the start of this year I decided to start work on my first "serious" drama script which I aimed to have sent out within the year.
I faffed about with it, rewriting it a ridiculous amount of times - each time learning more and more about the writing process - then, after reading Russell T Davies' book "The Writer's Tale," I was instilled with enough courage to send it out a week later. The same day I set to work on three other scripts; the first of which I aim to complete by the end of March.
Bring it on!! 
At the beginning of the year I had done nothing.
Wrote my sitcom pilot around march but did bothing with it. Joined here in October time.
Jan Jung was sent my script at the beginning of November but haven't heard anything since.
Stephen McCrum agreed to look at it around then to but heard nothing since and also stand up Henning Wehn but no reply.
Had sketches and jokes rejected by RFTP, News Revue and 118. Can't get hold of anyone at treason and didn't finish my skins script in time.
All in all a pretty succesfull first year! *sarcasm*
I have won a sketch comp on this forum though which was a small victory for me!
I didn't really have any aims at the start of the year. I only started writing about a year and a bit ago, so I didn't know where I was going.
I wanted to write a sitcom, but that hasn't happened. I've had a few attempts, but I'm not putting pen to paper now until I have everything worked out in my head.
My sketch writing's gone better. A few months back I managed to squeeze my way into submitting some sketches for a BBC Three sketch show - the creator of the show said he liked the sketches and has passed them on to the producer, so hopefully something will happen with that in 2009. Also, I may get something on Radio 4 for RFTP.
Oh, also.....
I've written pilot episodes for FIVE different comedies, dramas and sitcoms.
And one film screenplay.
Just gotta get them pitched now.
