A fair point.

Gomez, the Spurs keeper, makes Calamity James look like a completely reliable, safe pair of hands.
I've never rated Peter Crouch either.
How is Ronaldo over-rated?
The answer is obviously Adebayor or Mvuemba
Wes Brown
How can Wes Brown be the most over-rated player in the Premiership?
Nobody outside of us Utd fans rate him at all.
He is severely under-rated if anything.
Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard are very over-rated.

I don't know, I think Gerrard is as good as people say he is. I have never seen a team fall apart, when one player is missing, like Liverpool do when Gerrard isn't playing.

Wes Brown is in the England team - Capello obviously rates him but I wouldn't have him anywhere near the England squad let alone as a starter.
I never thought Ferdinand was worth two £18m+ fees either.

He has no self discipline at all meaning that he has to be given a free role because he can't stick to doing anything else and at times can be a headless chicken.
His 40 yard Hollywood passes usually miss their target and end up on row z, when the odd one makes its intended target we see replays of it for years. Also known as the Ronaldo Free Kick syndrome.
He has never played well for England and completely bottled it against Croatia last year when captain. We were missing Rio, Terry, Owen and Rooney and he didn't step up to the plate.
The fact Liverpool fall apart without him says more about how bad they are than how good he is.
Rio Ferdinand is the best defender in the world and along with Vidic the best central defensive partnership in the world.
Quote: Ned1984 @ December 18 2008, 5:59 PM GMTThe fact that he can get into the starting 11 of a Premiership team every week, even though he is about as much use as Stephen Hawking would be, is proof that he is rated.
In fairness, he's been quite good this season and is much loved by the Wigan fans and has been one of their best players this season...think he was even captain for one game. Some would argue that he's under-rated, as he can't shrug off his past errors that haven't occurred so much (if at all - I can't recall any) this season.

Agreed. He's quite good. Excellent defender, and keeps it simple just giving the ball to other players who can do something with it.

Yeah, he looked petrified in that game.

Yes, I can't think of anything major this season. Maybe I'll give him a bit of breathing space, he'll be back to his old calamitous self soon enough

Ah-ha! Twas you! Big pat on the back to you Julia!

I agree with you about Lampard, but I think you're wrong about Gerrard.
He has off days sure, but when he's good he's the engine for Liverpool.
The best example was their CL final against Milan. He was truly outstanding in that game and drove the whole team in their comeback.
