Best depiction of writers in a TV show

Does anyone have a particular favourite TV show/episode about writers?

I love the episode of Larry Sanders where Phil, the head writer, has a pilot script commissioned by the network and ends up trying to develop a show for Dave Chappelle. The meeting with the execs at the end of part 2 of this YouTube version is particularly good.

Studio 60 was a particular favourite. Pity the network who made it didn't share the view.

to be fair, nor did the public!

Moving Wallpaper, Lead Balloon and Annually Retentive are the three shows about comedy writers that first spring to mind.

I always enjoy it when writers turn up in comedies. Especially rubbish amateur ones. I just watched the episode of the US Office where they found a screenplay in Michael Scott's desk drawer. F**king hilarious.

The DVD commentary is really interesting because they discuss whether the public would "get" jokes about "find and replace text" ...... worth getting the DVDs just for that!

Not a TV show, but I really enjoyed Charlie Kaufman's "twin brother", Donald, in Adaptation.

Colin's Sandwich?

I only mention it because I vaguely remember Mel Smith in it who was a writer and quite bitter, fat and balding. Which is highly-realistic in my case.

Just found a clip. A scene with hardly any studio laughter in it at all and an unconvincing ending. Doesn't look great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrQIpccwLqI

I remember the Colin's Sandwich episode when he's asked to do the best man's speech and be funny, because he's a writer.

I thought that was quite funny.

That'll be this one. Surprisingly racy language, no? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrODSdxte9Q

That's the one and much more fun.

Me too. :(

I liked Seinfeld when Jerry and George write the pilot for NBC. Season 4 I think.
