It doesn't sound like he hates women though, just he has a very outdated view of male/female roles I think. I find it quite insulting that he thinks soaps are only watched by women! I'm always in the EastEnders viewing figures!
He's just old and out of touch, I can't dislike him. It's like a nanna or grandad being racist, you know it's wrong but they come from a long lost era.
