What about Louis Theroux?
Maybe not now I dunno, but I bet he will be when his career is through.
Just watched his gambling one.
"Are you winning?"
"Er, we are from Italy" :D

Nah. He's good, but that quote is a great example; the comedy moments, the really properly great bits, come from the people he's talking to. Not him.

Louis' great imo.

Tony Hart.

Tony Hart broke my heart every week :(

Week on week out I would be glued to the TV hoping...praying that my picture would be featured in the viewer's gallery. It never happened.

Pah! :|

Yeah, in mine too. Do you think potential national treasure though?

No!

But then I suppose zooo would have us believe that Gervais is a national treasure, so f**k knows.

I thought national treasures are of a certain age and have a long career under their belt. I think Louis is a bit young to be a national treasure.

I like Ricky Gervais, but not a treasure imo.

I expect like the term 'legend' and everything else, everyone has their own definition of what it means.

I wouldn't term Ricky a National Treasure though. I still can't think of anyone more fitting than Stephen Fry.

Anyone mentioned Jimmy Saville yet?

Derek Griffiths.

John Peel.

Bernard Cribbens.
