I just looked on Wikipedia, well there you are, that is what I have learnt today.

Sunday night project has just been on with Tom Jones and Gethin was a guest and he was introduced as his son!

Well Tom has just said so himself on TV and TV doesn't lie as we all know!
Are you sure they weren't making an amusing joke based on the fact that they are both Welsh and called Jones....?
His Wikipedia entry cites this article as the source of his sister's name:
It also says "And Gethin's proud dad Goronwy...".
Other clues: there is no citation on Wikipedia about Tom Jones being his dad. The phrase "international superstar" would not have been used. And we'd have heard it a million times before today.

I was watching it too. I stopped for a moment. Then I realised it was quite clearly a tongue-in-cheek reference to the surname.
There would have been more than one reference to him being Tom's son if it were true.
