Anyone see the Peter Sallis interview? He seemed slightly non-committal in his praise for Kathy.

She has joined Compo (st) and is now plant food.
<Peter Peter Griffin>Hahaaahahahhahah</Peter Griffin>
I'm slightly concerned about the mortality rate of people in Last of the Summer Wine. Many people have died over the shows run. I started to become concerned in 1978 following the death of the first 'third man' Michael Bates. Now many have died from then. Compared to another show that started at the same time, Grange Hill, hardly any cast members of that show have died. There is something very funny happening...
Lets hope the coffin doesn't fall out of the hearse and then roll down a hill in front of two amazed policeman who rub their eyes in amazement.
Too soon?

Quite an odd interview with Peter Sallis, if you listen, you get the impression he didn't like Kathy very much. He led you to thinking that, but then quickly changed the subject. I hope there isn't anymore as it is well past its best, but I think there is a new series starting soon according to the Christmas radio times. I don't know if Kathy Staff was in it or not.

Ditto to that, but if it does happen let's just hope it's only her tights that have rolled down.
It's never too soon

Apparently they wrote her out of the last series according to a report I saw on the news today.
She must have been ill for quite some time but it was certainly news to me.

Grange Hill was about kids, while Summer Wine was about pensioners.
It would be really something to see the last ever episode - if it was written as such. The closest it's got to the end before is when Bill Owen died, and the "funeral" episodes after it felt like the last ones, especially when the herse carrying Compo's coffin moved away, and Clegg said, "Just one more wander through the hills, old chum". Very touching. Those were ironically very funny episodes indeed, because the emotion was there.
In a way, Peter Sallis was rather brave to be so honest in that interview. It would have been very easy to have sung her praises, but he chose instead to be truthful - and ran the risk of appearing disrespectful. I think, generally, people can be very complicated and things like that are rarely cut and dried.

Yes, it was kind of a joke Dave, obviously it went over your head >_<
But yes, she'd been ill all year, apparently of a brain tumour.

A bird did that the other day.
Sad news about Kathy. It said in the paper today she had filmed her last scenes in August, so perhaps she is in the new series. It was a strange interview by Peter Sallis, I also got the impression he didn't like her.
R.I.P.
I remember when she was in Crossroads. Her daughter, Glenda I think, had had a baby and Adam and Jill Chance were deciding on a Christening present for the baby. Jill suggested a locket with a photo of her mother in (i.e Glenda, Kathy Staff's on-screen daughter). Adam said "there's no need to frighten the poor child". It was the only time I remember Crossroads being intentionally funny. It's not much to do with Kathy Staff but I wanted to demonstrate what a shit hot long term memory I have.
