After you've pegged it...

...what do you think happens?

Do you think there's life after death or will it be before-you-were-born-esque oblivion?

I'm interested to know what peeps think/believe will happen to them.
A large number of people believe in ghosts and/or claim to have seen one themselves - so if you are one of these, where do these spirits live?

I completely don't know, but at the moment I'd go for oblivion because there's nothing to suggest anything else for me. I have to admit though that oblivion/non-existance does scare me and I would love to see a ghost or see any kind of indication that there is something afterwards. I'm also not religious, but a lot of the time when I see or read about some of the complete scummy shitbags that share our planet I find myself hoping I'm wrong and there turns out to be a hell so they don't just get away with it.

This thread was inspired from a picture zooo posted btw, but I can't find it now.

Nothing. Units shut down, and decay.

I agree, but don't you find that a bit depressing/scary?

Not really. It's How it is. I can't stop it, so no point worrying about it.

I suppose.

I believe that when I die, that will be it, full stop.

But if others believe in any kind of afterlife, then that's what happens to them. I'm not saying that anything you believe can come true. But if you truly believe you're going to heaven or hell, then you are, your interpretation of it.

Heaven and hell only exist to me as a concept. I believe these two places were made up as part of the story, to watch ever religion you apply them too.

But if you believe that Heaven and Hell actually DO exist, then to you they do.

I'm rubbish at explaining what I mean, if hell did exist, it would probably be this post. I'm sure there's a philosopher out there, who can put this more poetically.

Oblivion. :)
It's the only thing that makes sense. But it's not depressing really, just how it is!
Better than making up a fairy story to console yourself.

Have you ever read a Pratchett book Lee? That's exactly what happens on the Discworld!
But if you think that I'm surprised you haven't convinced yourself that heaven is a giant sandwich held by a million naked fitties :)

Well I don't know. I kind of feel envious of people who believe they're going somewhere, cos when the time arrives they'll never know that they were wrong and will have been perfectly happy or unafraid to die up until then.

But then again if you're not bothered anyway I suppose it doesn't matter.

I used to read Pratchett books when I was a kid, but I can't remember anything specifically from them. Maybe that's where I got all that from?

*dreams about naked fitty sandwich heaven...*

Those who believe in Christ bug me with this. They are going to Heaven (and so are their loved one's..) and yet they are so devastated by death. I just don't get it?

No offence meant btw, just wanna know..

I keep an open mind about what happens after life. Who can say for sure?

I think the devastation is down to natural human selfishness.

Yeah, I don't think many people who believe in heaven are unafraid to die. If any.

Well noone can say for sure, but don't you have a slight leaning to one particular outcome, just a gut feeling?

Well belief and emotion are very diferent things. You can miss some one because you're sad they're not around.

Me personally I don't know if life ends or continues at death.

What I am sure of if we don't know what the result is.

I believe how we feel about how we lived affects the final outcome.
