Dear Santa.... Page 8

Oh right, just the syntax? Scans perfectly well for me to be honest. What about 'nor has he', or 'so has he'? Do they sound odd Curt?

Yes,
I think it would depend on the context. 'nor has he' would work in a formal letter but not an essay. You would have to use the person's name like in the case of the students paper. "Nor has photographer Robert Frank...." would be correct but the student who had been writing about the photographer wrote "Diane Arbus did not work in the surreal.Neither has he and that is why I liked Robert Franks photo... ".
So yea like Zooo pointed out I was wrong :)

I often get this really weird thing where perfectly ordinary everyday words suddenly look or sound really strange. Anybody ever get this?

Yea I get it all the time. My fiancee uses some weird words and when I call her out on them by saying stupid things like "That's not a word, I'm almost positive" she cracks open a dictionary and proves me wrong.
HONESTLY! Doesn't persnickety sound fake?!

Yep! All the time.

HONESTLY! Doesn't persnickety sound fake?!

It sounds juuuust far-fetched enough to be true!

Haha! That IS a weird word though! I mean just ordinary ones you use all the time - suddenly they don't look or sound right for some unknown reason.

I think that's called Alzheimer

Laughing out loud

I think you're probably right scarily enough :(

No, I get that too!

Quote: Curt @ December 13 2008, 7:40 PM GMT

Just doesn't sound proper. I didn't mark it wrong or anything on the kids paper or even comment on it. It just reads odd.

It only reads odd because you're weird and foreign and use fake words yourself!

What? Is that what the student wrote?

No, I get that too!

Yay, thank you zooo for not leaving me on my own!

I said I get it too, but you overlooked me. Teary

No! I saw it but I thought you were thinking along the same lines as Curt - that I meant words that actually were weird.
I would never overlook you my little darling adopted daughter!

Unless there was a scantily clad well-fit bird standing behind you!

Legos = plural

Quote: Aaron @ December 13 2008, 8:24 PM GMT

What? Is that what the student wrote?

Something along those lines. They have a bad habit of writing like they are having a conversation with someone.

Dear Man in Red Suit,

I would like to add one more item to my list.

You'll never fit a pony in that.
