Yes,
I think it would depend on the context. 'nor has he' would work in a formal letter but not an essay. You would have to use the person's name like in the case of the students paper. "Nor has photographer Robert Frank...." would be correct but the student who had been writing about the photographer wrote "Diane Arbus did not work in the surreal.Neither has he and that is why I liked Robert Franks photo... ".

Yea I get it all the time. My fiancee uses some weird words and when I call her out on them by saying stupid things like "That's not a word, I'm almost positive" she cracks open a dictionary and proves me wrong.

Haha! That IS a weird word though! I mean just ordinary ones you use all the time - suddenly they don't look or sound right for some unknown reason.
