Lee Mack copied Jack Dee?

As you all know I love Lee Mack. However I was watching ye olde Jack Dee Live At The Apollo t'other night and he did a bit where he was saying he was bullied at school and all the other kids told him he was adopted as his family were Chinese. But, Lee Mack also does a bit where he says that his brothers were all telling him he was adopted and his dad says (in a Chinese accent) something along the lines of: "You no listen to them! They bad boy! Very bad boy!"

Me thinks Lee has taken Jack's idea and has modified it. I do prefer Lee's version though :D

Discuss.

Lee Mack has done that bit for agggggges though. Never heard Dee do it.

I'm guessing Lee "lent' that joke to Jack. Did Jack write his stuff for the Apollo thing?

I doubt he'd 'copy'. He'd have to be pretty thick to think no one would notice.

If anything one of them could have heard it, forgotten and it stayed in their subconscious.

Must happen all the time.

Or it's just a coincidence.

Quite an old joke, off the top of my head I can think of it being used in (god forgive me) the Eric Idle film 'Splitting Heirs', and long before that, the Steve Martin flick 'The Jerk'.

Used before that in Steve Martins stand up act; Christ was he a good stand up! Check out his live CD 'Let's Get Small' for him at his best. Probably dirt cheap on the used bit of Amazon.

I will, cheers!

So we can forgive him then and carry on loving him?

Oh I really can't stand him. I hated the Pink Panther and working at Blockbusters we had to listen to the advert over and over and over and over...

I think maybe I should give him a wee kiss just to show my forgiveness... hmmmm...

Aw, you don't have to do that... :$

There's a bit more to Steve Martin than the fairly bland films he's made for the last twenty years.

Exactly the 2 examples which popped into my head.
