On the contrary. Spelling mistakes are ugly abominations and whilst the odd typo is understanable, systematic errors and lax attitudes to grammar and spelling are strictly against site rules, and really I should be banning people.

*Understandable*

Was that the 'odd typo'?!

Laughing out loud

Firefox has a built-in as-you-type spell checker. I'm a good speller, but I still find it handy to correct typos. It's been years since I've used Explorer, but perhaps it has a spell checker, too?

You can get plugins which provide that functionality, just like with Firefox. AFAIK though, the plugin is not an actual installation option in IE.

Yes.

I understand the need to correct by all means but I struggle with my spelling and grammar largerly to my dyslexia and I do try and make the effort and check my posts but sometimes these things happen. Are you going to ban me for being dyslexic? Errr

EDIT: I've just read the rules. It was interesting but I think if you are planing to ban people who has broken any of those, the number of users on this forum will be down to three. Geek

Banned for spelling mistakes? I missed that rule.

Anyway, I am quite sad about Bettie Page. I know she was knocking on for 85 but still. She was the ultimate kitsch icon :(

No. I don't have a go at Curt because I know he's dyslexic, and I don't think I shout at you that often either.

Good! Just wanted to know! I know you correct stuff for me anyway! :)

Firefox's spellchecker is now an organic part of the browser.

Combine the following and I have grave doubts about the future generations' spelling and grammar skills:

1) Schools are moving away from teaching the fundamentals and seem more concerned about teaching 'I'm ok, you're ok' and shoving the kids out the door.

2) Spellcheckers everywhere

3) TXT speak

Rolling eyes I am more worried about todays adults and the ruination of the world they have created, thank you please.

The great thing about spellcheckers is that they don't (currently) understand context. So rotten spellers will still get their/they're/there mixed up.

I once worked for the biggest idiot I've ever seen in the workplace, a manager at a big company in charge of marketing/communication stuff. He sent an email to the Board of Directors announcing that he had found "serious floors" in their documentation.

What a storey!

Life for human beings on this planet is better than it has ever been. Not even close to perfect, but pretty darn far from global ruination.

Rolling eyes

Roll your eyes and wallow in despair if you'd like, but life is pretty darn good and getting better all the time.

What would you choose to do if you had the power to change things? I'm genuinely curious.

Well it's just things may not be that great for that much longer.

Nuclear civil war in China over clean water and arrable land?
