The Podcast Project Page 3

Oh yes that's right another project...:D

I've been thinking up ideas for new podcasts recently as I haven't done any of my As Soon As Plausible ones for a long while as I've been busy with my sitcom scripts, but I feel like starting up some podcasts again but I want to do something different to my last one, with hopefully more people involved.

The idea I had was to do a spoof "kids show" podcast, now by this I don't mean like a spoof Teletubbies etc, I mean like a spoof radio show aimed at kids, with various hosts talking about different things kids would be interested in. I was thinking we could make 6x30 minute episodes and if they turn out pretty good we could then send them off to various radio stations and get feedback.

It's just a basic idea right now, but ideas are welcome.

Im up for it... not being big headed here but I have a selection of voices (I have talked to someone who does voice over for a living about it and she said I'm promising) (Could just mean I'm shit.. but you never know)

So I'm Available!

Another idea for confrontation could be that the presenters hate each other.

EG - trying to show each other up (if its educational) "Actually there's 8 planets not 9 you complete mental retard!"

I do indeed. I'll dig it out.

Brilliant!

Paul great to have you on board, lots of voices is what we need. And the presenters trying to upstage each other is definitely something I want to explore.

I'm thinking the show could always start with a "Coming up on todays show" type thing, although the things mentioned are not actually going to be in the show, its just a way to get extra jokes in. Kind of like in The Day Today where they'd mention stuff coming up, but they didn't actually cover it. And like Arrested Development where it says "Next time on Arrested Development" but they never show those bits on the next episode, its just a good way to get more jokes in.

I like all of this! Yeah, daft Art Attack parodies would be good, e.g 'All you need is 4 tonnes of goat, a thimble of driftwood, two soiled conical bras and a bongo drum. Paint it with nail varnish and smear in yellow and you've go a convincing Big Bird out of Sesame Street'.

I don't want the show to be too surreal though if you get me, I want to keep an element of realism to it.

Right, I've decided the best way to go about this is, if we all post ideas in here as much or as little as you want and then based on those ideas I will write a script for a pilot episode. I'll then post the script up on here and people can edit it where they see fit. Once we've got the script how we like it we can then set about recording the actual show.

Also I've been thinking each show will probably work best based around a loose topic. Others I've talked to agree with this. So just post your ideas and we'll see what we can make out of this. :D

Send them all.

Anymore ideas folks?

How about arguments. I heard a great one once. Had me sitting in my car in the snow listening to the radio. I was rooting for the bloke as men are such under dogs. She won though. As expected.
*Starts filing nails*

You mean as in arguments between the presenters? If so then yes that's definitely something to look at.

Anyway I'm going to try and put a draft script together this weekend and then post it here for you all to edit.

It would be quite good to have adverts in between the show which are completely inappropriate for children. Also the production should be low so the presenters don't know when they are on air so they swear or say something inappropriate.

Does your man have erection problems?

Yeah like that ^ It also means we can parody ads aswell.

Yeah I like that idea a lot.

Check this out that Ed Parnell made, its pretty funny:
