Suppose that's a capitalist society for you. Personally, I think if the Excel spreadsheet's bracketed numbers have nine digits, you should really have sorted yourselves out a long time ago (this applies to lots of businesses and not just Woolies). Woolies never competed on-line and I suspect Seefacts is right in that WHSmith (who don't even compete price-wise on the high-street) will also struggle in this financial crisis (but the bastards robbed me blind of £35 so good). HMV and Virgin (now Zavvi) were both *very* late to the on-line party, so it remains to be seen how they'll cope.
And I guess it's closure will just be one more step on the slow march to total supermarket domination.
In the future, we will all be working for either Microsoft, Google or Tesco.
