I'm just waiting for my 360 to come back from repairs and then...f**k up again!

Surely anybody who has a 42 inch telly must live in a castle.

That's literally too big for me.

I had a 42" LCD, pretty much by mistake. I ordered it from work and couldn't remember how big our television was. The missus told me she thought it was 32" so I thought that a 42" would be a nice increase but not too big and it was on an amazing special offer.

Turns out we only had a 28" television and the 42" nearly didn't fit through the door! It was a real monster-sized telly. Until the missus accidentally put a cd rack straight through the screen - then it was still monster-sized but didn't really count as a television any more.

Fortunately the insurance ponied up quite quickly so I ended up getting a 37" TV which is still big but a bit less oppressive in our flat and it has a better picture quality than the cheap 42" one.

I've got a pc plugged into it, which is nice and I've just bought myself a blu-ray disc of Die Hard 4.0 so I'll try that out in the PS3 at the weekend, to see what it's like.

Mmm ... large TVs.

This summer I got a brilliant deal from Comet (online). I bought a SONY 40" Bravia HD TV for £699, and a Blu-ray player thrown in for free. It's very good quality!

For the record I had no intention of buying a new TV and would have happily continued to watch my dinosaur but it conked out.

I'm quite attached to my old TV, I've watched some great shows on it, but I think it's time for a change.

I know what you mean, my old TV was great (also a Sony) and it lasted for 15 years so I too, was attached to it, but you gotta let it go, man! :(

I've just took the plunge and bought a 42 inch Samsung plasma 100 hz from Comet. It was on special offer at £549 but I got the manager to knock it down to £460 if I took the insurance. I pick it up tomorrow morning!

Huzzah!

Ha ha. I was just kidding about my Samsung earlier - it STINKS... been back 7 times for repair. I just wanted to feel like I wasn't the only sucker.

Not really - glad you went with Samsung, you are going to love it long time.
