What half of BSG men lie about books read?

It appears that many lie about books read. They claim half of all men. Oh so what half here on BSG?

Many lie over books 'to impress'

Nearly half of all men and one-third of women have lied about what they have read to try to impress friends or potential partners, a survey suggests.

Men were most likely to do this to appear intellectual or romantic, found the poll of 1,500 people by Populus for the National Year of Reading campaign.

The men polled said they would be most impressed by women who read news websites, Shakespeare or song lyrics.

Women said men should have read Nelson Mandela's biography or Shakespeare.

Among the 1,500 who took part in the research were 864 teenagers.

About four in 10 of the 1,500 said they had lied about what they had read to impress friends or potential partners - 46% of men and 33% of women.

Not me. I'm like George Washington - I never tell a lie. :)

So you are three women today?

That's how I like them to line up in my bedroom, ready for action. ;)

Ha ha, surely one who has them lined up is too busy to be posting on BSG? Unless they are confused? :D

Women said men should have read Nelson Mandela's biography...

...

I lied for years about reading the Lord of the Rings series. I was embarrassed when people would come up to me to ask about the book after they had just seen the movie. They assumed that being a geek I had obviously read them. I didn't want to disappoint so I would use what knowledge I had of the books including the first few chapters (that was as far as I could get through the book).
I've since read all 3 books, the Hobbit, The Silmarillion and many of Tolkins essays. They were required reading for a class.
Good books if you can get through the first snoozer.

I not read Lord of the rings or the Hobbit got them both. But I get couple of chapters in and think "F**k this I have things to do"

There's no real need to read them since we've had the films.

I have a few books on my shelves that I have flicked through but never read, Ezra Pounds Cantos, Stanislavski (?) and Robert McKee Story - but that's not mine.

Laughing out loud I hear you. The first half of the book is boring has hell.
I also lied about reading a few children's books to my kids book club. I'm sorry but there is only so many retarded titles a grown man can read:

I don't know why I allow them to pick every title. I also made the mistake of letting them name our mascot who they named "The Great Yellow Butt" *sigh* it was a rubber chicken.

I've read loads of porn mags, but it seems most women aren't impressed.

What is even better is reading what you just read Nil and then looking over at your avatar.

I found them pretty unreadable. I think a lot of 'childrens' fiction often has great stories badly told (well the prose isn't great). The exception to this would probably be His Dark Materials.
